Just some suggestions. (Sorry to bust in, but this is a subject in which I am keenly interested. Anyone have a line on good books, articles. or chapters on the evolution of cues?)
It might be a good idea to include the cities/areas in which these makers were operating. Doing so would allow analysis of "holes" in the areas covered. Reliable dates would facilitate a view of how this art spread across the country. For instance, who was producing cues in St. Louis, Texas, or Florida? When?
As already noted above some makers fabricated and some assembled. Some did both, Such information is important. Making such distinctions does not make anyone less than another, these are simply facts -- it's what happened. (I will never understand, though, how someone could go through all of the effort to make veneered full spliced blanks and then turn his work over to another to finish,)
How/when/where did veneers come into use? Also, does anyone know who/what was going in Europe?
Finally, y'all are doing admirably, but I cannot help but think of departed members whose input might add so much. I say this to underscore the importance of securing information when it is available. None of us know when we might get hit by a bus.
