2 hours with Dr. Dave

My wife gave me a lesson with Dr. Dave for my birthday this year.
I used to play when I was kid, but hadn't played until a couple of years ago, I knew what I wanted my shots to do, some days I was really on and the next day couldn't hit the side of a barn.
This was the best 2 hours I have ever spent on my pool game. I suspected my stroke was inconsistent because the cue ball rarely came off the object ball the same way twice in a row. Dave pointed out a couple of things "chicken winging" being the main culprit.
WOW, position play may actually be in my grasp now. Makes a huge difference when the same things consistently happen on each stroke.
I would highly recommend anyone struggling with their game to take a lesson, a few pointers from someone who knows is priceless.
And I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Dave he packed a ton of information into 2 hours, he is fun and articulate
and the time flew by.
Thanks Dave!

Bill,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I also enjoyed very much working with you. Not all students are as receptive to change and able to make changes as quickly as you are. If my memory serves me right, if you can keep that "chicken wing" from flapping, always position your head in the new vision-center position we found, have more focus on aiming while standing as part of your pre-shot routine, have faith to hit the CB lower on draw shots, and utilize your knowledge of CB control, you should be able to easily step your game up several notches over the next year. I look forward to seeing that.

Good luck,
Dave

bquiggle...I'll be up in CB in a couple of weeks. Do you have access to a table up there? Maybe we can get together and play some.

I'll be there for the last week of July. Usually play on the bar boxes at Kochevar's.

If you guys are going to have some time in Denver, we should try to get together. I'm only about an hour away in Fort Collins. I haven't met either of you in person yet, and would like to do so. E-mail or PM me and we can try to work something out.

Catch you later,
Dave

Hmm... I'm flying to Denver and then driving to CB, but will have family with me, so doubt that I can detour to Ft. Collins. We used to go to the Ft. Collins area before getting a place in CB. Too bad I didn't know you then.

You'll need a weekend in the mountains, won't you? I can put you up.

lol he's probably going to fall over if he tries to do all that each shot.

I can probably be convinced to spend a day or two in Crested Butte. I'm an avid biker (road and mountain) also, and there are great trails out there. It would also be fun to play some pool if that's OK with the family.

Let's communicate via e-mail and/or phone to try to set something up.

I would think so also, but he was already doing a fairly good job of it even during the two-hour lesson, so it shouldn't be a problem once he "creates a new natural" with practicing the "right way" over a long period of time (e.g., a few months).

Regards,
Dave

Sounds good. We only have trail bikes of the motorized variety, but we're very eco-conscious.

If I were to plan to bike, I would probably bring my non-motorized mountain bike (although, motorized trail biking sounds like fun also).

Catch you later,

...motorized trail biking sounds like fun...
It's a blast, but not the speeding around, jumping over things, tearing up the mountainside kind of fun. We ride difficult trails at slower speeds, where the challenge is to not fall off the mountain - more like non-motorized trail biking but over somewhat longer distances. If you're familiar with "trials" competition, it's kinda like that (except we fall down more :)).

I had a great time visiting with Bill (bquiggle) in Crested Butte last week. Amazing how Crested Butte (and Mt. Crested Butte) continues to change, and yet stay the same...great town! Bill...I'll let you know when I get booked at Western State this fall!
