Bad Shape?

LOL ... I hope you have learned to play better shape since then. I always
want the easiest shot possible on the 9 ball ...

Who said anything about bad shape, I straight up missed them. It's as though there were a magnet pulling my cue off line. It was straight up a mental break down on the nine.

I think the best thinking you can do when your playing 8ball or 9ball is to imagine, that every ball is the MONEY ball when your shooting. That way you dont just WING it or shoot at the ball carelessly.

Plus i usta have the problem of trying to get the PERFECT position with the CB, when playing 9ball and would end up way outa position or having a harder shot than normal.

Now another way to think is that you still have one more ball to pot before the game is done, so you need to make the 9ball to get to the real money ball. Hence like playing 10ball as someone stated earlier.

But getting nervous is natural. But i when i am shooting good is when i shoot without FEAR ! Meaning i dont even think about missing a shot because i am either making all the shots i am taking or playing lock up safes when i dont have a shot.

Doggin' it

If you feel a little tight when shooting at the Nine Ball, do what I do...
Stop, take a deep breath, and get back down and ......choke! lol

Misses

Act like you have another ball left to pocket and get your shape on it . Makes you stay down and not just shoot the ball with no purpose.---Smitty

winners remember the shots they made not the ones they missed

That's absoloutely terrible advice and untrue. Good players who win alot remember the shots they missed and figure out WHY they missed those shots. Bad players are the ones who forget, and never fix the problem.

Allright not that I like being on the defence but, winners notice shots they always miss and fix the problem. If you concentrate on the one shot you "dogged" once the next time you might think bad thoughts while shooting it. As far as my other post that was criticized it too is a very true statement if you have dogged it enough you will quit dogging it. I meant the ball you missed you will quit dogging it as soon as you have done it enough. A friend of mine once told me a saying about dogging the money ball.
"Try to win the game not beat your opponent." "Once you can do this you will begin to understand the game better and quit dogging it."...Danny Harriman 1-29-06

I agree with the other posters on this as well. But I will add my own $.02 on something else not mentioned by the others.

The nine ball tournement I was in last night I dogged the 9-ball a diamond away from the pocket!!! Race to three it put my opponent up 2-0. I had to laugh it off and bear down. I won the next two then he rode the nine to win.

Sure in that situation I could have beat myself up with what if's; but that's counter productive. Just laugh it off as Efren Reyes does. "When you laugh it off the first thing you are doing is taking responsibility for the mistake by owning up to it. At the same time you are tapping into the power of forgiveness by letting yourself off the hook for the breif letdown."

We have a name for missing shots we are not supposed to. We call them, "stick breakers." But the more you keep your composure the better you will play after that "stick breaker" shot. The other posters have it nailed...
