In a year where the event was packed with the most highly touted stone cold action monsters from around the globe, picking a winner for the 2007 Derby City Classic “St Louis” Louis Roberts Action and Entertainment Award proved to be a thrilling ride.

The sweators and bettors spoke, and their votes were cast. We are excited to announce that the 2007 “St. Louis” Louis Roberts Award goes to Chris Bartram. Bartram was in high profile action every day of the nine day pool & billiard jamboree.

Players often say that matching up and putting ones heart on the line lends to great improvement in play, forcing players to play their best game. No savers, no dumps. Just ask anyone who the great action players are, and most will point the Filipinos, a group notorious for being in constant action as a part of their life and livelihood. Chris Bartram took noteworthy steps in that direction, showing the world that the Americans still have gamble in them. Among his many matchups, Bartram twice took on Filipino sensation Dennis Orcollo in 10-ball, he battled UK 8-ball Champion Darren Appleton in an 11-ahead set of 9-ball, and he had several other multi-hour sets throughout the duration of the event. Chris had backing from several of his fellow players, and he backed other players as well.

Though somewhat quiet and reserved around the pool table, Bartram never failed to attract a large crowd whenever he was in action. And the award is all about entertaining the crowd, however the winner accomplishes that task. Congratulations Chris on this well-deserved honor.

Over forty votes were received from the internet forum community, with Bartram receiving the most first place votes and most votes overall. Shane Van Boening, Jon (Pinegar) Hennessee, and Harold McAbee rounded out the top four.

Respectfully,

The Louis Roberts Action & Entertainment Award Committee :)

Congratulations to Chris!!! Chris HAS been the best action in the United States for the last 3 or 4 years, BAR NONE!!! He has made the largest scores in the country 3 years in a row and although he ended up losing a few dollars at DCC, his gambling was finally recognized.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke with Chris Bartrum at Memphis Super Bowl Tour. He was proud to win this award an very grateful for those that voted for him. This a very generous award . He told me that he recieved a free entry fee an a free room for DCC next year an I'm almost positive for life. That ain't no small bag of potatoes. Congrats again Chris B.

Chris Bartram/AE Award

I have to thank Fred again. I wouldn't want the responsibility he has taken on. As I know how many players showed so much action!! I know if Louie is looking on he would have approved of the selection....And I know he would of found some way to match up with the top reported money player in the World...Thank's Chris for giving ACTION even if in the form of a loss, you tried and kept the tradition at the Derby....that is ANYONE can get ACTION, even bad action is better than none!!..............Greg/Diamond and yes you don't have to play in our tournaments-- The night shift is just as important to me...And you do get a free room and entries to the tournaments for life....You earned it by entertaining a whole lot of people!
