2010 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Ran a 159 tonight.
12th attempt.
Private table. Buckets. What looked like, cheapie econo-buy Aramith pea balls.
No idea what type of cloth, but it wasn't fast, and it wasn't slow. Reminded me of 860.

TOTALLY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE on private equipment.
Two different worlds when compared to all the bullcrap at the pool hall.
WOW.

How about a video

How about a video of one of your runs. Maybe we all can learn something.

Actually this is the first time i looked into this thread, wow, i have the Nr.4 spot ! Who is that guy John up there ? I will kick your butt of the throne... in the next life maybe lol ! :rotflmao1:

Congrats John, the best straight pool player in the world surely deserves 2 be up there:thumbup:

Actually, this is a new person high run.
It was 117 before.

Considering i don't really play a lot of straight pool, as far as knowledge is concerned, i think you would be better off with one of the 14.1 die hards, cause honestly, i really don't play the game that much at all.
Although, there was an Oliver Ortmann player review that i watched at my friends house, where he talks about looking at the table, and dividing it into small groups of balls instead of just looking at the whole table like one big problem.
That was the only think i did differently since the last time i played 14.1 which was a while ago, but since my poll about who has access to a private table or owns one, vs those who don't, i had take the opportunity to try and play the game in private, with no one bothering me, and it just seemed that much easier with no distractions.

As for the video, i don't own a camera, and on top of that, i am anonymous.
So filming isnt an option for public scrutiny, although i do wish i had somehow caught it on film for personal reasons, seeing as i play 14.1 and pool in general, very infrequently, and every now and them i am capable of shooting some really great pool, and the rest of the time, i just play like garbage.
It all depends on the day.

We all have that problem, if we wouldn`t have it, some of us would be pros....

Forget playing nicey nice.

Go make a home made ninja suit. (black turtleneck, black tshirt cut spirally to end up being one long wide ribbon to wrap your head in, and some runners black stretch pants, and black gloves, black sneakers) , find a good hiding spot in the middle of the night in some isolated place you know he is at cause you've staked out his routine, and when he comes walking by, jump out of the bushes with a disposable base ball bat/broom stick handle/i.e. untraceable piece of wood that you can leave at the scene, and frigging NINJA his ass!
A good whoopin will suffice.
Toss ninja mask in a dumpster somewhere or better yet, burn it, and go wash the rest of the clothes.

Smile on the inside, when he comes into the pool room all busted up. Feign concern, and ask him what happened.
Marvel at the violence in the world and discuss how society is going down the toilet.

WARNING: Ninja revenge is a highly addictive behavior, please use with extreme caution

I have an Idea. Why don't you put that "Ninja" costume on and shoot some 14.1 and video tape it. This way you can remain anonymous.

Sad but True! :grin-square:

you play like i do, 50´s and 60´s and then you some 1,5,2 12 or whatever between it...that sucks.. good playing though

If my straight pool would be like yours i would be just more satisfied ^^
thx anyway :-)

Ingo

with these runs you play like i do...i am not running 50 any day, sometimes i don´t get over 40 in a month !

since it doesnt look like eric is gonna say anything !

Eric "Easy-e" Charlton ran a 62 on 3/20/10 during the SBE 14.1 challenge.

just want to give him his deserved props !
Steve

Dennis: good job. Glad that you are playing 14.1
Is 23 your high run? Was that match with Chuck a league match or did you two just play a game?

It was a league match. My high run is 36 a couple of years ago, but it seems like I have been turning into a "grinder" lately and not running very many.

Played a few today. Some runs about 20-30 and finaly one 55 ...
The 5th breakshot was about 80 degree near the rack and played a force-follow and run with the cueball thru the rack into the corner-pocket -_- grrrrr

CueTable Help

But doesn t really matter- was satisfied because the racks felt really good.
