2011 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

106 yesterday - on big pockets and slow cloth.

Awesome shooting Dave, I was vying to topple you this upcoming weeked at your old score. I already trumped marop last weekend.

Your 106 might be a little out of my reach right now, but given time I am confident that just maybe I can trump you as well...lol

Great shooting my friend !

Purely inspirational! Please, please video and comment these huge numbers when you have a chance. I learn a ton from your commentary, and what you were thinking and why the change.

Way to go David!

28th January,

63 but needed 11 more innings to finish til 100, lol :)
Still just 8-ball and 14-1 is more comfortable to play for me- so i can place the CB there where i can comfortably reach the CB. Often looks for sure a bit funny for others....but works better^^

Thanks everybody!! I was talking to Steve Kurtz on the phone while I was tearing up some foam mats from my weight room and making some pocket reducers (got the idea from a thread here). I have since improved on the original idea - video to follow. I was able to get 50-something on the super tight pockets, and the 106 came shortly after I took them off. I am going to try and get a good run with the pocket reducers on - hopefully my stroke and accuracy don't go on vacation again. I haven't really played much 14.1 since the 106. I'm playing a lot of 9 ball recently - its been a good change of pace. For a while, I wasn't getting good results at all and I started to get frustrated. I didn't play at all for almost a month and a half - The layoff did a lot of good, and I think its time for me to start playing A LOT more straight pool again.

Never hurts anyone to play a lot of straight pool
Nice 106 btw and no way of trying to diminish your own achievement with equipment excuses, century is a century: period!

Jack,

it s easy to explain- you re one of those guys with a very good mental ability. Just watch Nick van den Bergh. Since the European Championships last year he didn t play or train.....going to the Euro-Tour....and wins.

Same what Roschi (Andreas Roschkowski)is doing this here since 2-3 years- plays PERHAPS 1 hour in a week and lost iirc 1 game in 2 years in straight pool in the 1st division here in germany; or shooting 150 and out in the european championships-just loosin in the semi-final bc opponent runs 150-and out.
I hate him for this, LOL.
Some guys just have next to their technicel abilities an incredible mental strength-and you also :)

82

I had a 82 ball run late last night. It was sloppy but still a 82. The best that I have done this year so far. Sorry, no video. I need to start recording again. The best that I have so far on video is a 69. I am starting to play good again. So, I am hoping that this year I can break my high run of 116. That is my goal this year.

That is awesome mikey ! Get that camera rolling, can't wait to see what a good job you did on the restore of your table.

Keep it up and you will trump that highrun in no time !!!

I agree -- Mike's got a BIG run in 'im this year, and I've a feeling we're going to see it soon -- on video, no less. And get this -- he'll do it in one of those "shady rooms" in/near Dallas. :p

Good going, Mike -- but I have a feeling I'm going to be wishing you the same after an even bigger one very soon,

Sean & Steve, you two have more confidence in me then I have in myself. Thanks. I would love to run some big numbers but I will tell you that it will not happen down here in Texas with the type of tables that I have to play on.
I read that other Thread about Dallas & El Paso.....funny.
Hopefully soon, I will be able to post something. Thanks again for your support.

Hrhrhr,

you hit it my friend :) i really think you don t believe in yourself. You are such a good player. You have it all- big experience, tons of knowledge, a really really good rythm. Many players can just dream to have that all.

Shut up and stop thinking :p (hugs ^^)

Take care and don t forget to feed the dogs!

Well, we are having snow now down here after three days of ice. I just lost my satellite signal. I was watching a zombie movie......LOL
Ratta, thank you and you are right. Thanks for the good words. I need a kick in the ...... once in awhile. I had a 53 & a 62 tonight. Both runs ended on no shot after I broke the rack up and had balls every where. Unbelievable how that happens. Thanls again. I am happy to see that you are finally getting to play again. It has been a long time for you.

My friend,

if you would tell some guys, who are also playing each day in pool-halls etc how often and constantly you re doing runs of 50 and higher runs......they WOULD HATE YOU!!

LOL ^^

Put me down for 81 on 2/5/11

Now my back is toast !

Steve

WOOHOO! That's the way to do it, Steve! Nice, nice run! Question though; did you have your shirt off and the establishment's pool lights were of the tanning variety? Is that why you say your back is toast? :p :D

-Sean

P.S.: J/K on the toast thing. I hope you didn't injure your back. Afterall, you still have to shovel snow! :o
