2011 Maryland 14.1 Straight Pool Championships - July 22-24, 2011

The final match ended a little before midnight. Johnny Archer was the winner ($4,000) with John Schmidt second ($3,000).
A very rough and quick summary. I hope someone who was taking notes will come up with the exact numbers and a full report soon:
John ran 21 from the beginning before missing a tough cut in the side. Johnny then methodically ran 80 before getting stuck and having to try to backcut a ball in the side - just missing after skimming both points on the pocket. John rose from his chair with the quote of the match "I feel like a bear who just woke up from hibernation." He ran around 55 balls and Johnny answered with close to the same. A safety battle then began with Johnny coming out on top and closing out the match.
