Congratulations to Richie Richeson, who led the voting throughout the event. A yearly contender for the award, Richeson is a well deserving recipient providing plenty of entertaining match-ups and sessions all week as he does every year. For winning the award, "Richie Rich" will get free tournament entry into the DCC as well as paid hotel room for the life of the event. His photo will join the other winners of this award on the Championship Banners hung high in the tournament hall at all future Derby City Classics! The Award Committee will be notifying Richeson's win (or he can call up Greg!).

Billy Thorpe and Brian White rounded out the top three in voting as both were in entertaining action all week as well. We hope to see more of them next year as well.

The Committee is happy to report that there were more votes this year than any other. Hopefully the trend continues in future years.

Additional consideration and honorable mentions go out to yearly contenders Danny Smith and Jason Kirkus.

As a final note for this year’s voting, the A&E Award Committee want to give a shout out to the often overlooked backers of the games as well, as much of the action and entertainment cannot go forward without them. In the future, the A&E Committee might consider a Backer Award. Stay tuned, sports fans.

Until Next Year, this is the Louie Roberts Action & Entertainment Committee!

Congrats to Richie...

A deserving winner. Long time road player and action man. A gentleman to gamble with as well. Congrats Richie.

Congrats to Richie! He has made it a tradition to gamble long and hard at every dcc I have attended!

The backer award will certainly be interesting!! Hope it goes through...

Would love to see Carl, SAJ, and Kirkus in the mix together!

This was a long time coming, could easily have happened several years now. He has a good combination of the Action and Entertainment aspect which a lot of people have a lot of one and little of the other.

Deserving for sure. He will shove it in and grind it out no matter what. Good choice-

I know Billy and Brian will be disappointed, but it's hard to argue with Richie as the winner. I can only remember one time walking into the action room when I didn't see him playing.

The action this year was bigger than any time at the Executive West IMO. I was great to see.

The best action and the highest level of pool I have ever seen played anywhere. Everyone needs to get to the DDC next year!!!

Great choice.... He has always been a contender and could have been chosen any number of years.

He stayed busy all week and is definitely a good fit for this award!!

Congrats Richie!!!..............Now you got the 7-8, lets do this. :)

As always there are a few people who could have won
Good pick with rich rich

Congrats Richie. My almost claim to fame happened in the old Planet 9 Ball in Tampa. I had not played in their tournament before and Smorg told the TD to make me an "A". My first draw was Richie. I was so frigging mad I had him down 6-1 going to 7. Then I started thinking, "I can win this match". Big mistake that thinking stuff...I didn't win another game. I'm still glad Richie won the reward though. He is always in action and has been for years. Johnnyt

Richie Richeson is an action machine!! I met him in 93' in Toledo and he took me around everywhere...He was constantly in action the whole time and when that ended. he took me to a poker game:-)...He really knows how to match up well and is a smart gambler. He grinds hard for the cash and keeps his composure as good as anybody...He doesn't ever beat himself from what I've seen. Congratulations Richie!!

Yep he's great to watch. Are you the Mark that use to run with him and Jumbo and that other huge guy? Any way I've heard a ton of cool action stories from Jumbo.

No poolgodbewithme, I'm in a rock band and only hung with him when we played the Toledo area..I play also and match up on days off when my band's touring..We are just friends, not road partners..
