Had to take the family to Mass when the score was 6-5 Grabe. Efren was missing shots left and right at that point. Can anyone give tell me what happened from there? Did Efren play better, or did Grabe choke?

It wasn't a pretty match, but Efren played better in the late stages.

He's not the Efren of old, but he's still got a ton of heart. Many will recall that Sky Woodward had him 8-4 at the Derby City 9-ball in January. Efren, who had won the one pocket event, was still alive for Master of the Table. Efren came back memorably to win 9-8 and keep his chances alive.

Efren will turn 60 later this summer, but there's still some magic left in his cue,

It kept going the same way. Efren limped over the finish line.

No. The last session today (Sunday) started at 6:30 PM Doha time (11:30 AM east coast US time).

The next session is at noon Monday Doha time = 5:00 AM Monday east coast US time.

As for the chat I always go full screen because I've never found that it adds much to any stream. Also I'm surprised at how much I don't miss the commentary. When it's very good it can be a plus otherwise I think it can distract and detract from the match. With all the tables to choose from the commentary isn't needed to hold interest in a slow portion of a match.

The equipment plays great and the playing venue is top notch. The field is very deep and enormously talented. Referees are doing all the racking. The stream is the best I have ever seen and you can choose to watch any match in progress, ensuring you the opportunity to watch your favorite players.

As far as I'm concerned, this event is on the short list of the best pool events in history. Wish it were a little closer to home. For those who are there, I'd like to express how jealous I am!

Only thing that could make it better is a little more prize money. 200K in oil rich Qatar is embarrassing. They could easily go to 250K, with 40-50K for first and now it really seems like a world class event.

No doubt it is the best, when considering the multi nationalities, and all matches are streamed. I wish US open follow suite with a fee, not free.

I can't imagine how much they are paying kazoom to stream 14 tables for ~10 days.

It sure does feel much more involving and intense being able to watch the matches live rather than just looking at a score board.

Grabe scratched on the break - Efren ran out with ball in hand, but the layout has been a little tricky, so he had to use all his skills getting out of line a few times!

AS soon as it's down to the last 64, there's a new draw. Then single elimination.

Shane beats the Italian to make the last 64. He got pretty lucky. There were 2 racks where both players missed shots with 4 or less balls on the tables (how often does that happen at this level) and Shane somehow won both racks.

On a related note I want to say how much I love the tough equipment conditions. One of the worst things about watching pool is the "foregone conclusion" racks. Add in the pressure and EVERY rack here is difficult. Adds to the suspense.

Also at the very beginning of this thread I posted that I thought Thorsten may be using a new cue based on a video of the China Open I watched. I stand corrected. That video was old and Thorsten is still playing with his all white Thorsten Hohmann model Lucasi Hybrid.
