I commented on this earlier. I've shot with every set of balls out there and when those balls are seen on my camera they are difficult to distinguish. Changing the balls to different colors did not help the situation in my opinion.Are you kidding? This information is at least 30 years behind identifying which ball is which. Is there a single commentator who can ID all the 3,4,5,6,7,10,11,12,13,14 n 15 numbered balls from ANY set from the booth? Not to my knowledge!
Pat spends a great deal on his camera and lighting equipment to get the best possible degree of color, saturation, hue and contrast to make the balls look as real on television as they do in person. If we take all these variables and throw in a small 14" viewing screen the commentators watch the match on and couple that with aging vision, well you get the picture.
