About the format: The tournament is single elimination with matches to 40 points. There is a chance to tie, so that if the person who breaks wins, the other player can try to tie from the break shot. If a tie occurs, they go into penalty innings and each player starts from a break shot. I suppose that could be repeated if there is another tie, but I don't think I've seen that.
