2021 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

I'm sitting out the rest of the year. Table is in pieces and I'm tightening up everything. May never get a decent score again...lol

....aaaaand run of 112 on 26th of December. 106 have video but 112 OBS crashed during 3rd rack so no video from it.
Actually there was only one try between those 2 runs and i made 84 and miscued haha

For whenever the 2022 thread starts... Ran 51 today (Jan 3, 2022). I also ran 46 and out to end the match (race to 150). The 46 was much cleaner. The 51 had a few hero shots. Ended on a combo I didn't necessarily need to shoot.

Happy New Year all. We had 30 participants in 2021, and many, many, many, balls run.

2022 thread is here:

24, also two 23’s and a 22. High run is 32. Hoping to beat that someday. 9 ft. Gold Crown 3, Simonis 760 standard Brunswick big pockets. 54, I have been playing pool on and off most of my life.

Either a 126 or 140. I have to stop playing at 10pm due to a crank granny downstairs. Stopped at 126, went to bed, went to work, walked the doggo, tried to get going again, scratched at 140.
Just caught up to watch your run. Nice run (y). Was inspirational in a funny way:

ultra tough patterns, very shallow angles on the break ball (more so in the beginning of the run) ton of work in almost every rack and tough endgame patterns. And still an incredible run.

So my breakthrough after watching this: I am rushing it a little trying to play the pace of John or Jayson. If I stay down on the shots I can pot (almost) everything with position. So what if my pace is boringly slow*. Or the patterns look ugly sometimes.

*(That's why fast forward / jump 10 sec forward buttons got invented :))

Yeah, there’s a time and place for pace if you’re comfortable with it, but it’s more important to play in a way that suits you. I love watching Danny Harriman play, but I don’t enjoy his pace. And that’s fine, he still plays amazing pool.

I think for some people, a moderate pace allows them to play in a way that doesn’t distract them, for others, playing quickly does that. And sometimes it can be different for the same person on different days.

Re. my patterns and break shots, like I mentioned somewhere, I learned to play straight pool from zero with zero input. Watching the Legends events the last few months has really taught me a lot. But yeah, sometimes you have to drop what you think will be pretty and just get the job done.

bought his instuctional DVDs with 280 and 351 runs and his pace (on these DVDs) is great. No idea why he plays so slowly in tournaments sometimes. But yeah, great player and great patterns. I learned a lot from his DVDs.
