2021 World Snooker Championship

That's a good question. I'm in America. This is what shows under my account details, and I don't know how it could be a pirated stream since I'm on the Matchroom.live site.

That's interesting. This shows you are NOT a paid subscriber.

I am a paid subscriber, and all other Americans, including my FB friends, are unable to watch Matchroom.live for this event. This is what mine shows. As you can see, I am logged in, and my subscription expires April 19th. You do not have a paid subscription.

Amazing how you're the only one in America that can watch it on Matchroom.live.

I might have figured it out. If I go to matchroom.live and click on Snooker, I can't get to a live stream. However, what I normally do is just type in matchroom.live in my address bar and it autofills to this URL https://matchroom.live/player/live/MF9pc3VzbTlhdg

Which then takes me to a live stream.

I got a DAZN one-year subscription prior to the Championship League Pool event, because there were enough Matchroom events to make it worthwhile. World Snooker is on there now.

I can't remember. Does DAZN allow you to switch between tables?

Does either Matchroom or DAZN have archived matches or just live matches?
Matchroom has a few archived matches from various tournaments. I think DAZN keeps matches for a short time in case you need to time shift. Neither has an extensive archive.

Ronnie is up in an hour to finish his match with Joyce. He leads 6-3 going to 10.

Ronnie wins 10-4 and finishes with 3 consecutive centuries. The title defense is on.

Edit:

Looks like he'll play either Anthony McGill or Ricky Walden next. He's 6-0 vs McGill and 6-1 vs Walden.

Re watching. I just watch the matches on YouTube after they are finished. Lots of fans start posting the match as each frame finishes. Every match in the big tournaments is available in a variety of forms...the whole Match in full time or short versions wih no pauses between shots.

re Ronnie. Didn’t expect that good of a performance in the first round. He’s usually slow to get going. Gilbert doing way better than expected after his dismal season.

Don't really bet on snooker much, but put 2 small bets out on

Walden to beat McGill and Kyren Wilson to beat Gary Wilson by 3 frames.

Here is the prize fund. Multiply by about 1.4 to get US dollars.

Winner£500,000
Final£200,000
Semi Finals£100,000
Quarter Finals£50,000
Round 2£30,000
Round 1£20,000

I got friends who made nice money betting snooker. Problem is they get banned often from betting companies. Or restricted bet size if they keep winning...

Well seeing how Gary Wilson has controlled the first session against Kyren, I don't know if I'm going to have that issue :)

DAZN doesn’t seem to have any replays available. You can scrub backwards and watch earlier parts of a live session, but not watch anything from an earlier session. At least for their pool events, you can watch replays for a week or so.

I don't follow snooker closely. I remember a few years ago a top player got caught up with a scheme with some Russians to fix a game. What ever happened with that?

Sounds like you're talking about the John Higgins Ukrainian sting possibly?

He got a 6 month ban and a fine for failing to report an attempt at match fixing. He was cleared of actually attempting to fix a match.

Most people accept the tape released publicly was heavily edited and the full unedited version was never made public (but was shown at the hearing, so we're told). Therefore most people accept the punishment was about right, he didn't actually do anything, but should have reported the approach (he said he feared for his life due to the setup with the gangsters). There are some doubters though, who think he was guilty of more.

Personally I struggle to see what one of the game's top players would have had to gain from that, so I'm inclined to believe the outcome of the official tribunal.

Interesting. My memory isn't the best but wasn't he introduced by his manager? Did the guy who set up the meeting get in trouble?
