I'm pretty sure they are adjusting their shootout, while not doing away with it completely. I can't remember the specific change.
I haven't heard of any change in the shootout itself, but when a shootout will be used is being changed:

Stage 1 (double-elimination) -- still go to a shootout if they are tied at 1 set apiece (races to 4).
Stage 2 (single elimination) -- go to a third race to 4 if tied at 1 set apiece. But if the third set goes to 3-3 in games, a shootout will settle it.

Soufi was a blast though I think more likely flash in the pan. Still gonna watch him when I get a chance. Can't forget about Naoyuki Oi when talking about emotion and joy at the table.
Agreed, Naoyuki is very animated and charismatic.

I don't see it except downsizing. Typical rip...

What's great about these two men (Japanese-Vietnamese) is ''them''.

Great character/Aoki.... takes years to form on the green felts.

These men are themselves.... their pace of play and character and person/ARE Completely Different than what the Public Eye thinks when Comparing/ a man in a bar in blue jeans holding a cue and a beer.

Pools reality....
Your growing up/playing with older men.
This planet wide billiard/room eco system, matures young players quite differently than other games.

High-end pro players are NEVER a flash in the pan.

Yapp....

To get to the hill of any pro event speaks of a decade of commitment and not hanging around kids your age all the time :).

MR needs to Engage these two HAPPY types of personalities more into their business model/marketing.

You'll never see a Corn Hole Bag tosser with as much pure character, demeanor, and decades of commitment evolve like a pool playing kid did hanging around the adults in his youth in his country.

Wonder what the Vietnamese pool rooms are like. :)

I've got to say, I wish going forward a lot of streamers would emulate the youtube table camera angle. having the camera that high gave me a better idea of what was going to happen next.

If pool, like golf, had a grand slam, it would likely be the simultaneous holding of these four titles:

US Open 9-ball
World 8-ball
World 9-ball
World 10-ball

Right now, FSR holds three of these titles, and if he wins the World 10-ball a few weeks from now, he'll hold all four and I'll call it a grand slam.
Well........I think Majors would have to include the International, Chinese Open for starters. Golf and Tennis have 4 Majors, but Pool is a bit more fluid. For years I didn't really think of the World 9Ball as a Major, but it's definitely a major now. I would love to see World 8 and 10 Ball continue annually and improve
