2025 DERBY CITY ALL 3 FINALS ON LAST SUNDAY THOUGHTS....

The super bowl wasn't the point lol, it was that people come there all week and only get to watch "regular season" pool matches and then don't get to watch the "superbowl" finals because they have to travel home.

Terrible idea and clearly thought up by people who don't have to work.

I don't watch football and couldn't care less about football lol
I'm sympathetic to the needs of those who play in the events and, thereby, get to watch some pro matches for free, but, in my view, managing the interests of those who pay for the privilege of watching the pros deserves precedence.

The fact is that practically no attendee got to the "Super Bowl" in its entirety last year or the year before, because the 9ball final went until 10 AM the next morning each year. In each case, I was already on my flight home while the 9ball final was played. Yes, 9ball, which always decides "Master of the Table" at the Derby is, and always has been, the Super Bowl of the Derby. As one who stays for the length of the Derby, I am hoping to see my first Super Bowl from beginning to end in three years.

Finally, nobody who plays in the event but leaves before "Championship Sunday" will have to miss any of the finals. If they care enough, they'll buy the stream.

To sum, these changes serve the interests of many. Still, until I see how it goes, I'll reserve judgment.

Unfortunately, I stayed awake till 10am watching it, screwed up my sleep pattern for the week

Yes this is one of the changes they made. I usually play the one pocket and 9 ball. Last year I stayed 7 days. This year if you don’t stay for the whole 10 days you can only get certain days with a discount. The other days were priced at $400 a day for a room. Most of the rest of the year you can get a room there for $89 a day.
$400 per night at this joint is just absolutely bonkers. Place has nearly no draw to it at all. There simply is no justification for that price whatsoever.

PEAK and I mean the absolute most desirable dates on the entire calendar should be $240-260. This is not Vegas.

... the 9ball final went until 10 AM the next morning each year. ...
Well, it averaged out close to that. To the nearest minute (using my timekeepers), the times at which the matches ended were 9:36 am in 2023 and 10:55 am in 2024. So, for "close enough." it was 9:30 and 11:00.

will there be third party streamers this year? there were some good matches on the outer table streams last year, and some match choices for the tv table were poor

Thanks for that. As you probably figured out, I was estimating, as I missed these finals. Looking for better this year.

Got to their site and check the prices. Almost any time you can get a room from $89-$109 a night except during the derby when they jack the prices up and then pretend to give you a discount while making an extra $40 a night over the regular price.

Appears to be around 535ish players in the banks based on the match updates page. Anyone surprised they went over? Lol
According to the DCC website, the maximum number of entries for 2025 will be 475 for Banks, 400 for 1-Pocket, and 500 for 9-Ball.

What is the match updates page? Are you looking at something from a prior year? The Banks number last year was about 487.

The player lists they posted today on Facebook had 465 Banks, 390 1P, and 487 9 ball.

No Hennesse showing in any events.
Wow, are there really 487 in 9ball? If so, I'd say we are already in the danger zone.

Hmm, I didn't realize they had player lists on Facebook. I wish they would just stick to their own website.
The only reason I can think of for this would be them trying to show off that they kept it under control this year but I think it’s a sham. I trust the link I shared more than Facebook numbers.

The link you shared is to their matchlist page. A page that is probably being worked on as we type. Like you posted above, first it was showing 1P and then Banks. A site that has been one of the most piss poor maintained sites in the history of pool.
