A thrilling hill-hill finals at the WPA Oneida Women's 8-Ball Championship. Congratulations to Jasmin Ouschan for the win. Bravo to Chezka Centeno for coming in second place. Round of applause go out to Amber Chen and Margaret Fefilova Styer winning bronze.

8 ball is played in Europe at the European pool championship so she is very familiar with the game.

she said it's her least favorite game and it had been years since she played it, until predator's venture into eurotour earlier this year. but i would guess that chezka has played it even less

Yes it looked like Chezka didn’t know the rule for a scratch on the 8 ball. But regardless the last few matches of this event were really great.

Very enjoyable event to watch - Chezka plays unbelievably strong - no hesitation and just an innate sense of the game. From my perspective, she lost based on being a little less "seasoned" and pulling the trigger too quickly on a couple of key balls. Jasmin was just a little steadier and more experienced and showed why she was the best female player in the world for years.

Having said that - give Chezka a few more tournaments like this and a couple of years and I don't see anyone beating her consistently. Her game is simply too strong and at age 26, she has many great years ahead of her.

Overall really enjoyed watching the event - with one exception. The amount of morons and idiotic comments in the chat was absolutely amazing (and not in a good way) - distracted from the talent on display and the focus on pool.

nice to see at lest a few gals play with some rhythm/pace. Too many still play at a snail's pace.

At large had that stat, men at their world championship (with tighter pockets) were like 6 minutes a rack while the women were 7.7 minutes a rack in this tournament. That’s a big difference for a viewer who spends a hour watching. But I didn’t have a problem with the pace of the top players in this event.

(I can’t watch the slow male players either for what it’s worth and have more scorn for the top men who play slow).

I first saw Jasmin play in the 2001 WPBA Nationals` and she had already been competing in Europe. She was already fairly seasoned, finishing in 9th, including a win over the great Helena Thornfeldt. I'm guessing Jasmin's competitive career has been going on for at least 26 years.

I remember Jasmin making local headlines in Austria Championships at around 12 or 13 when she beat the legend Gerda Hofstätter.
