2025 Reyes Cup, Oct 16-19, Manilla. Team Asia vs Team World

Can somebody tell me what is the current team score and what match is going on/coming up? Is there a place with updated summary information that I am missing?
Gorst and Neuhausen currently trailing 1-2 vs Biado and Manas.
Overall score is 10-3

They flashed what matches are up next after Chua vs FSR

Neuhausen with a great slow roll shot in rack 5 to pull Team ROW within 3-2.

Only reason he was able to play it that way is that Team ROW has yet to jump up onto the table today.

Finally, a well-played match to watch!

Manas gets a very big roll shooting with a short stick. The whitey deflects off the 2 and gets stuck between the 6 and corner pocket. Ball in had and a runout for Filipino duo, 4-2

What a roll for Manas. Should be enuff to let Asia close it out.
Yeah, that roll was ridiculous. Shame, too, as this was a very well-played match both ways and Team ROW might have pulled it out. Good chance it would have gone double hill.

Still, glad it's over, and the 11-3 score understates what a merciless massacre this really was.

Well played, Asia. Congrats to AJ Manas, the MVP.

I really like AJ's game but the overt promotion has been a bit much. The other 4 players on team Asia are also accomplished. Promote your young star in his hometown but jeez.

We finally got to see the promised good match on the last day. Too bad it was already a foregone conclusion, but at least we got something to think about. If only......

I love that the kid who was so severely critizied showed up the way he did. He shut everyone up with his solid and superb play. AJ was pocketing balls cleanly and looked completely in his element out there. He actually led them to victory after Carlo got him out of line a couple of times.

We saw the best of 9-Ball today with some excellent safety play and pure shot making on very tight pockets. What started off a dud went out with a bank! Good job Matchroom.

Jay, you really liked the Yapp/Duong vs Skyler/Jayson match, didn't you? What a masterpiece deserving the lump of crap trophy.

He wasn't criticized. It was simply pointed out that no selection process based on merit could have possibly put him on the team. He had no high finishes in major tournament play in 2025, is #74 based on Fargo, and is not in the top 100 on the AZB money list.

Here's what I posted before this event started. "I hope AJ doesn't miss a ball. It would make for a great story. Still, even if he does that, he will have taken the Team Asia spot of many who are more deserving."

When interviewed before the event, Bustamante did not have an easy time justifying the pick, and it's a very safe bet that it wasn't his idea. Now, he's saying that Manas, yet to have a top 5 in a 9ball major, is sure to win a world championship soon. Lest we forget, it took Reyes until age 45 and Bustamante himself until age 46 to win a World 9ball.

It's Matchroom's every right to promote the brand that is AJ Manas, but the prediction that a player who has no accomplishments in the junior WPA World championships and also no high finishes as a pro is a sure world champion is off the wall. No way that Manas is one of the ten strongest teenaged players I've ever watched. Even his fellow Filipino Bernie Regalario, now 20 years old, already has a bronze medal at the World 9ball on his playing resume.

This is a case where I'd love to be wrong, for I like Manas and wish him well, but I'm not subscribing to this inexplicable hype that will now prove a burden for a kid that's not quite ready to beat the best at the majors. Let him prove me wrong by reaching Day 6 at the Philippines Open. If he does, I'll cheer as loudly as anyone.

With regards to 9ball, however, I'd rather hear when Scott thinks Manas will get his first Top 5 finish in a major. I'm not sure I see even that as imminent. Let him prove me wrong at the upcoming Philippines Open.

Manas is a likeable and talented young player. He has made a fan of me, but one must be very delusional to predict immediate greatness for him, let alone suggest his first world 9ball championship is imminent. Nobody of right mind could suggest that he already has all the tools, for he is quite ordinary in his tactical and defensive skills. He has accomplished virtually nothing in the junior world championships, whether you look at the Under 17 or Under 19 categories. He has barely ever taken down a big-name player in major competition.

Scott may need an extra cup of coffee.

agree. these pundit predictions often miscues. JJ was always hot on fortunski, but that didn't really materialize (other than euro titles). scott is overawed by manas and januarta. definitely very good shotmakers both of them, no doubt about that. but we've seen plenty very good shotmakers not reach WC title or even major event title

the social media world is beyond my comprehension. it's possible manas makes more money being "starboy" on tiktok than carlo made winning in saudi. i wouldn't know. the only effect i see is that it hypes up players, both male and female

If the MVP was based on actual play, Biado would have been the clear winner. And if there was a golden jump cue prize, Fedor would have won hands down. That guy is just sick with a jump cue.

I felt Chua was the best with the jump cue in this Reyes Cup. Fedor, of course, is the best jump shot player in the world, with Yapp, Ko Pin Yi and Shaw just a bit behind.
