2025 Southwest Cues

I’ve said this before I’m not good at waiting 3 days when buying from amazon I couldn’t imagine waiting 19 years when there are plenty of them available on the secondary market but if you love southwest whats it hurt. They don’t ask for any money down so get your name on the list 🤷‍♂️

Custom cue means that it’s built to your specifications. It has nothing to do with the amount of curs made.
Take all the time that is required to produce that kind of a cue to the highest quality and it won’t take that long.
It is merely a way to ne able to price them higher.
I don’t think that you are a sucker. You could have passed on them if you didn’t want them and was ready to pay the price
It's a common trap to argue about definitions of words.
I felt this way about it once too. Then I realized I was viewing it with a narrow perspective. (Not wrong perspective, just not all inclusive).
Words are not prescriptive but have "usages". Basically all words are "made up" and usage can change over time and with varying instance.
"Custom" has been used in cuemakering for decades to describe many possibilities.
'Custom" means different things to different makers.
1. Custom= A unique order (bespoke) made to specifications. (Example : ebony with blue veneers and 20 oz and 59" length.)
2. Custom = Not a cue design that is produced in serial. Each cue is made one by one. Simply not "mass produced".
3. Custom = a cue or set of cues that are made in commemoration or limited.
4. Add your own definition here =

The 19 year wait is over for my 2 Southwest cues. Me and Nick Varner went to the Southwest shop June of 2006 while we were in town for the IPT North American Championships at the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas.
It sounds crazy but now that I got them I can really see why they are wanted worldwide by so many players and collectors. .View attachment 817376View attachment 817377View attachment 817378
Congratulations on these two beauties! But when I keep hearing the term “typical Southwest roll”, I know this isn’t a cue I’d wait so many years for.

I just can't comprehend waiting for 19+ years
You don't. You put your name down and forget about it and buy cues just as you would normally.

I put my name down through email to Laurie when I was in college and totally forgot about it till this thread. Sadly, I can't find that email or forgot which one I used. I may have missed the call. That was 23 years ago. LOL

I had foresight then and thought by the time I get the call I would be able to afford it but I've moved on.

i have been waiting 15 years so i hope i can live long enough for my number to come up :(

They are making more than 25/year now.

I’ve been over to visit Laurie a few times in the last couple months. SW is back in action! Ofc they will never print cues like McD or the like, but they are making more than 25 for sure. I’ve been going there since 87 and kinda have a feel for things. I can’t say anything else. Other than SW and Co are back! And it’s going well.

Best
Fatboy 😃👍
they make close to 500 cues a year according to the number on my pin

each year starts at 300... so no - not 500 a year. you seldom see a SW with a 4 in the front number. They don't make that many cues a year....

200 cues x4000 equals 800,000 dollars. Not alot after rent, wages, cost of materials.........And 200 cues in a year is 4 cues per week.. think they make more cues

I like cues and there is no doubt in my mind they are good cues. Yea the wait sucks but it is what it is.

Many will buy it if they called.

I giggle at this thread.....but maybe I can share a bit more information for those who are not familiar with Southwest.

Once Laurie gets ahold of you and telling you your number is up, then she gives price sheet, wood, and veneer options for your cue. After you give Laurie your choices and 1/2 of the purchase price they start on your cue. Delivery from this point is supposed to be 12-18 after. What everyone told me it would be 18 months, not 12 months. It was 18 months.

Mine came and it wasnt exactly what I ordered. Laurie appoligized and offered to correct the error but said it take months to repair. After talking to a couple friends for advice, I decided to just keep it as delivered.
