'21 Derby City cancelled.......................

Heartbreaking but hardly unexpected. The last pool event I attended was the 2020 Derby City Classic, so things have come full circle.

There's a real good chance that the Indiana casinos are gonna be closed then. DCC had to make the call early for all involved, players, spectators, etc.

I would assume so here. But the casino in French Lick told me last weekend they were going to stay open. Something about checking temperatures, facemasks, alcohol and smoking in the designated area only, and strictly enforcing masks will be enough to keep them open.

I hope they are right since that place is sort of my 2nd Hangout now.

Wonder if that will impact Turning Stone.
Not canceled yet (TS) so if it's a go, being the only thing happening might increase attendance both players & audience?

TS is in NY right?? No way i'd want to guess what that moron Cuomo has up his sleeve.

I'm surprised they didn't just postpone it until the spring or summer when the vaccine is available and the politician will probably loosen up the current restrictions.
Hard to just change dates at a big venue like that.

Well that is the worst news I've heard all day. Thanks for the heads up though.

You can't get into the casino at all unless you're from NY or about 4 other states.

I have to take my electric bill to prove I have a place in NY(for work) because my license is from another state.

No way anybody is getting into Turningstone.

Those states are
New Jersey
Pennsylvania
Connecticut
Vermont
Massachusetts

I'd be very shocked if Turning Stone went forward as scheduled. The hotel itself is open but the question will be whether a large gathering in the grand ballroom would be safe. It's exactly the same question that had to be answered with respect to the Derby City Classic, and the result will likely be the same.

First off, I don't downplay Covid. However, King Cuomo has been choosing favorites and doing unconscionable stuff regarding family Turkey Day gatherings. I tend to agree with SBC's admirably restrained postings on the subject. In my county and those near by, biggest fails and super spreader events so far have been (un)christian fundy pastors. We literally barely had it (surrounding counties) until a couple church events brought it in, then accelerated it. Agnostic whether TS would be better or worse but it is more religious to me. :)

Regarding TS, never been clear how much authority he actually has over Oneida Nation lands, other than that it is useful for both sides to cooperate? As far as people getting into NY, obviously state can make that difficult.

I'm not sure why anybody would want to go somewhere right now and expose themselves to a large group/crowd of people anyway. I'm going to pass on stuff like that for now, until the coast is clear. My advice (.02 worth) is not to take the first vaccine that comes out. I have been advised by medical people far wiser than me to wait a while and see how the various vaccines are working before getting one.

Will Zuglan even be able to run such an event, were it feasible, given his recent medical stuff?
