24 Stroke Shots Video - Can you make them all?

I think some of those shots would actually be easier to make becuase of a slow cloth. When I'm down at the pool hall if I play on one of the slower tables I end up putting so much "juice" on the ball to get it around that it's doing things that are almost defying belief. When I get home though, or play on one of the fast tables down there the cloth doesn't grab so much early on in the shot so there's less "curvature" from the initial english? (Not sure if I explained that right)

Great shots though!! I liked the video quite a bit and I think I'll run through them at home.

You're right DJ,
Shots that require a tighter arc at higher speed can be achieved on a slower nap, and sometimes these variation lead to spin taking differently.

On the other hand, several of these shots I really had to swing at. They would have been much easier on a fast nap cloth. Also, a few shots I could have played on a faster cloth are just out of my range on my table. eg. Draw down and bounce all the way up table. (Maybe with a run up and ripping it perfect, but I'd end up with more divots in my cloth:eek: )

Let us know how you find some of these shots after your hit.

I think I'll try and make a little video like you did and shoot it back to ya so you can check it out. :)

Colin, this was almost inspirational!
I will have to practice. I'm normally a soft stroker. When shooting hard, my aim goes off in the bargain! Despite your assertion that many of us here can make these shots, I wouldn't be among them unless time were of no partiular concern.
It is great to see what can be done though. Wow.
If I inspired you a bit that's great:D Just trying to have a bit of fun and make a bit of fun, while learning a few tricks.

When I play tournies I also soft stroke the balls around as much as possible, but as a former thrower (shot and discus), whether it's pool, golf or bowling, whenever I'm playing around, I just wanta bang, whack or chuck the heck out it:D

I'm waiting on some higher tech editing tools, else I can't edit out the bad shots:p

btw: I can't see your video at http://www.thelifeofriley.org/gallery/popup_videos.cfm?FileName=14to1.flv

I wanted to watch it again....cut that shot you missed out (talk about choking:eek: ), then put it in a repeat loop, youtube it with M.C. Hammer's 'Can't Touch This' as audio backing. bwaaaahaha:D

Collin, I'm not sure how you can get the video to me if you need help editing, but I've made literally 100's of rivervideos and I can probably do anything you need..

I got a version of Studio 9 that I use (amateur editing software) and so long as it doesn't get outta control with the FX then my lap top can usually handle it.

Got some updating to do, besides that video wasnt a very good example. BTW did you not see that bloody women at the end !!!!

Geez talk about timing!

thank you

Thanks for the show. Looked like it was fun. I usually get myself in trouble trying those very same shots during a match.. LOL

Thanks Peter, Gabber and Fred and all who appreciated the video.

btw: I think many players in this forum could make all these shots, but some of the shots would test their patience as they did mine :D

Hopefully it opened up a few path ideas to some of the viewers. It certainly helped me to become more familiar with predicting some of these tougher power shots.

Getting the confidence to make some of these shots with a high percentage can make for some intimidating arsenal against an opponent. Of course it's best to play the simplist positional routes, but having options is a benefit.

Great shots! And thanks for the link so I can save it and show it to friends. Awesome, and very inspiring!

DJ,
Thanks for the offer...sounds like you know a lot more about vid than me.

I was just joking with TheOne re: needing editing gear...meaning I'd have use special effects to cover up my misses. hehe...14.1 ain't my game, and my table has 4.3" pockets, slow nap and I've got a dozen other excuses lined up for TheOne:D

Maybe when TheOne puts his video back up, you can analyze it to see if that woman who walks in on his 97th shot (supposedly distracting him), was actually digitally added after the fact, as I suspect:eek: ... ...:p

I've been hearing them for months now colin hehe! SHe was real Colin, however the heard of mammoths, flying saucer, and Bin Laden hitting a few balls on the table next to me that I'm currently putting in are sadly not (but don't tell anyome ;) )

What about playing the ghost 8 ball race to 10IPT style no edits? :D

loved it m8. if i had a table at home and sexy shorts like u have and funky psychadelic lsd carpet i would be trying it right now. 21 i think would be the hardest. looking forward to the 14-1. im actually vonsidering to do the same, and tape a 14-1 practice session and send it to people who would like to help me and spot weeknesses errors.

anyway u just owned yourself another 6pack with this tape :)

Yup, I can make em all! Fun video, but I would not really call most of them "power-stroke" shots.

Corey...That's pretty boastful! As well as you play, I'll bet you can't make all these shots anywhere close to the first try. As Colin explained, it took him many tries of some of the shots. After watching the video carefully, several times, I could easily see how speed and spin could radically affect how the CB comes off the cushions, making pocketing the last ball much more difficult. Some shots were easier than others, but they are all reasonably advanced stroke shots.

Hi Solly,
More beer...just what I need for my trim physique:p

21 is very tricky, at least the way my rails play. I had to just miss the corner jaws, but also had to come into them from as low an angle as possible and with enough speed to get back to the center pocket area. So I had to use draw and reverse (check) english...but not too much check to kill the speed of the CB. Definitely not a good percentage shot, but a good bar challenge shot.

lol on the lsd floor. It's actually like a rubber gymnastics foam rubber product, which fits together like a jig-saw puzzle (used in kids play rooms). The only reason I put it in was so that balls jumping off the table wouldn't wake up all the neighbours.

As for the shorts, all I can say is it's getting warm in Shanghai:o

Wheew weeee dem be some nice slap shots  I would try these but I dont want to miscue and kill someone lol :D Great shots, really, ill be lookin forward to more vids.
