Interesting...........the import 'ball-screw' pin has been around many yrs now.
I haven't heard one CM say they like it or that it's needed. IMHO, it's a PITA.
Given your position of support, will you be using it for the next $1,000 cue that you build ?
You might want to ask the sellers of this bastard pin just how many they actually sell.
Since you were kind enough to provide links, let's take a second to explore those.
The first link is to Prather, a grab-bag sale specifically.
They have 2 pins that they are trying to move and they don't appear to be identical pins.
One has rings on the barrel, the other doesn't. Maybe two different manufacturers.
It looks like a Radial, they even call it a Radial. It's not.
There is only one Radial and it isn't a 3/8x8.
Now let's slide over to their tool section to look at the corresponding tap.
The pins are all but useless unless you have the tap to install them.
Glorioski, they are not only out of stock but they've been 'discontinued',
as in, we aren't stocking them anymore.
Could it be that the pin was just too damn popular ?
OK, ready to review the Unique link ?
The pic shows what looks like a Radial but it's not, it wasn't made by Uni-Loc Corp.
They'll sell you all you care to buy but what about the tap ? They don't have one.
Wonder why ?
It's about time that we clean-up and streamline the craft.
If we don't do it, who will ? The sellers ? NO MORE BASTARD PINS.
