Looking for a 3/8 x 10 modified pin piloted tap. .308
Any help finding one would be great.

Thanks

Why not use the regular tap?
Drill bore to .295" ( if that is the minor of your tap ).
Tap.
Then bore .308.

maybe I'm crazy............. I just drill it with a 5/16 3 flute carbide drill and tap it........................... perfect every time
if it's got a locating barrel........... I drill it with a W drill the depth of the barrel

How is that perfect when the minor of the screw is .308" . Not .3125.

The barrel is .381-.382". Not .386".

Just a quick reminder to those following at home.
A couple of thou. is no biggie. We're working with wood here.
It moves that much on a daily basis and lets be honest.
You need room for the epoxy. The sky is blue except when it's gray.

Not if you use a paper micarta insert. :D

.307 reamer is fine for .308 minor screws. Nobody here is using a Monarch collet lathe. That hole will be a skosh bigger.

.382 barrel? Might as well use 9.75MM reamer or drill if you want a little room.

Before you fall down a rabbit hole, you might try simply drilling a 5/16" hole & tapping with the .312" pilot tap. The method works just fine for a bunch of cue makers who use .308 pins, and it'll likely work just fine for you.
