Every second Saturday evening, our LO opens up the 4 tables at our biggest sponsor bar and has a 10 dollar Scotch Tourney.

When the tourney winds down, we play 3 Ball for an hour or so.

Last game of the night, most people wandered away and the pot had 4 dollars in it.

I break and wham, all 3 balls go in. The LO said he has never seen that and tossed an extra 5 in. At least I had a few witnesses.

Yeah, it couldn't have been one of those carried over pots with 60 in it.

Probably never do that again if I live to be a hundred.

Maybe I will be a contender for the 3 Ball HOF/2013. Lately, I'm lucky if I get one ball in on an 8 Ball game. And then its 50/50 with the cue ball.

I did it once last weekend and almost a second time. 3rd ball missed the corner by 1". Those were my first also but I haven't played 3 ball in 20 years or so. Hoping for another game today
 
I changed break position and broke straight on from the string.

Where do you break from? Any tricks to the break? Or just slam them and watch.

Oddly enuff, 3 Ball isn't that easy as one would think it. Good stuff on your breaks Bryon. You are not allowed to come up to Canada and play.

I posted on this years ago. I think it is still out on onepocket.org. I use a three ball break as a one pocket drill. The object is to make the corner ball every time or at least most of the time. To learn it I had figured out a spot around the side pocket, I forget about where, that worked every time. From there you just work your way back to the kitchen. If you can make the corner ball in three ball, you will make the corner ball with a 15 ball rack.

I usually break from the right side, one diamond left and one diamond up. I hit with low left and almost always get at least one ball every break. I won most games last weekend and was told by a stronger 9-ball player than me that he would never play 3-ball with me again. He said you can't beat someone that has a great break no matter how good he was :)
 
Thanks. Bryon, I break from the left but same position as yourself. No English so will try a little low right next time and see if that helps.

Wow,Terry......timing is everything....I'm so glad I wasn't there.

I've watched 3- ball and I like to lay 50-1 on making all three.
I'm up a few hundred doing this and nobody has ever cashed.

Last time I did it,I was laying 100-1.....now I'm nervous.:embarrassed2:
 
I was told by some people that played a lot of 3 ball was to look at the set up.
If it's angled a little,break from that side.
In other words if they are racked angled to your right then break from the right side of the table.
Does this help? I have no clue. Just what I was told.

I never played a lot of 3-ball, and never made all three, but I made two and left a hanger as you describe in a game in DC about 20 years ago. My "2" came at the right time...it was the last game of a 2-hour set in which I picked up six Benjamins.
