3 Most Likely Cues To Go Up In Value/$?

 I don't own one, but if I were expanding my collection rather than trimming, he would be a strong consideration. I think he is making some beautiful cues. From my perspective the cues whose values will increase are those who are right now becoming popular faster than the cue makers can make them. Most other cue makers have risen to their current real values. I remember a few years back when Dennis Searing cues would sit on eBay for a while at $2000 and people would have to write in that they were really great for playing. Tascarella cues were pretty common at $2000 and I remember turning down a couple of 6-point Black Boars with modest inlays for that much. It wasn't that long ago.

Greg

I saw a 6pt BB with a lot of work and 5 shafts that was easily a 8k cue when the market was better go for just over 5k so it depends on when you bought that boar , most are holding on to them just for that reason

Tonkin ---- Highly underrated and puts out some incredible work

Searing ---- The perfectionist only builds a handful of cues a year enough said

Blackreek ---- He only builds about 3 cues a year and I have 2

My opinion

Now some of you guys are going to be upset by my opinion but, I'm entitled to it. I think that we should consider cue makers in the types listed below
Pioneers
Respectables
Unknown Perfectionists
Inflationists

Pioneers are Gus, Gina, Bushka, Tad, Josswest, Palmer , Davis, and Kersenbrock,

Respectables are Mottey, Southwest,

unknow Perfectionists are Prewitt, Carmelli, Gilbert, Klein, Zinzola and Judd

Inflationists are Searing, Tascarella, Blackboar, Showman and Barry to just name a few..

This is just the first thoughts I had to stir up some good conversation...

Please define your term inflationist

Also wouldnt Gina fit under this term since basically a cue you could get from him a year and a half ago for 3500 is now 5500 and the secondary market has responded accordingly

Inflationers

No, Gina is on his own perch. He seldom copies designs and is always trying to create new things, and is a great man. By inflationers I was trying to say that they are cue makers with prices above what the market is calling. I am not saying they don't make incredible cues.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Paul Fanelli cues... Two years ago one could be found for around 2-3k. One seller had one up here on AZ for around 1700 less than a year ago, and it lasted maybe 10 minutes before it was snatched right up for a killer buy... Good luck finding one for under 4 grand nowadays...
Clint<---Never touched, seen, or played with a Fanelli, but his reputation as a cue builder appears pretty darn solid...

Your statement is inaccurate, imo. Those guys all sell cues to the original owner for less than the secondary market brings. At least most of them. I do not follow the BB market so I can't speak to that one.

Dennis, Pete, John, and Barry are all losing money by not charging what the secondary market reflects.

There were some sellers really trying to stretch the market, but those numbers have all come down. But I gaurantee that if you order and get a cue from those guys, thats its worth considerably more than what the original owner pays.

You can order all you wish and be put on a "list" the key is getting a cue.

Been on both Hercek and John's list since 2005 pretty much beginning to think that if I ever own a cue from them it will have to be from a secondary market . That is disappointing to me not from a monetary standpoint but makes me sad I won't be able to design build with two guys that will go down in cue making history as two of the greats.

Sugartree
Bobby Hunter
Barnhart
Tonkin

All cues I believe have nowhere to go but up.

Fastnloose I stand corrected on your point about the secondary market. I have high respect for barry and think he should charge more. Its frustrating trying to estimate value of course.

2005? I've been on with joel since early 2000 and with john since 2002. Hopefully someday.

Schick universe hall of fame

I have a Hercek that hands down is the best playing and perfect cue I have truely ever owned. Why is this man not in the hall of fame I do not know. He goes over and above when dealing with his customers and stands behind all his work.
