Did you send an invite to Mike Sigel? I know he has been playing in and around NY recently. He is good enough to win too.

Now the late invitations to certain players makes some sense.
They haven't filled the field.
All of a sudden the invitations to premier players go out the window and it comes down to whoever will poney up the entry fee.

In light of how everything went this year concerning the event DP has done a great job putting this together to bring us another great world 14.1 championship. Only 3 spots remaining to fill the field is to be commended with the obstacles they had to hurdle.

Great job DP and we all hope for a great event and look forward to future events every year.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the WPA sanctioning thing and related circumstances, the field would probably be at least 64 players and there wouldn't be any openings. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I just revere the game of straight pool.

Although I do commend DP for promoting a decent 14.1 tournament, this will not be a true World Championship by any stretch of the imagination. I wish DP would get their act together and do the job right. We really need a true 14.1 World Championship. Maybe next year.

I'm just an old barbox player that got hooked on 14.1 a few years ago. But I don't understand why the WPA won't sanction this event.

If they were planning on having a sanctioned world championship I could understand not sanctioning this. But they are not. To me this seems to be a petulant, my way or I go home with my ball, attitude. How does their not sanctioning this event promote pool. How can they say they are the world's pool sanctioning body and fail to support the game.

I just don't get it.

My hat is off to DP for going forward with the Tournament sanctioning or not. WELL DONE!

DP News: can you give us any info on the streaming of this event, like a link to where we can find the stream?

Thanks.

There is only $12000 added as close as I can figure from the payouts. That makes it essentially impossible for many of the previous top finishers to come to the event. There is also the problem that the tournament is scheduled between two other major events in Europe and Manila, with no slack time in between for a missed plane or jet lag.

I urge you to learn what the standards are for a World Championship. They are not unreasonable. Other parts of the situation have been discussed in other threads. It is not out of being "petulant" that the WPA acted.

Despite the reduced prize fund, many more of the European players might have been able to attend the 14.1 championship if it weren't for the timing of the three tournaments.

Is there a reason why Dragon Promotions could not have scheduled the 14.1 championship for another time so that it's not sandwiched so tightly between the two European tournaments?
