32 Men Left Standing: Friday 2013 U.S. Open 9-Ball Thread

Where is Poolbum? Poolbum is there on site, I think. Poolbum, you need to go up there and tell Van-Van he forgot to move a bead. Do it now.

Nope, not on site. I think he should be able to move his bead though.

Yeah it seem extreme to not get credit for a game because of a simple oversight and as you mentioned in the heat of the moment to boot.I know the players are aware of this rule, but still OUCH.

If somebody knows somebody there, send them a text IMMEDIATELY. Then walk up to Van-Van's table and set a note down on his table. Can Van-Van read English or only Filipino language?

Well, if Van-Van was my man and I was sitting in the audience, I would not hesitate to walk right up to him on the rail and tell him to move the damn bead. :p

I agree, Jen, that there is something wrong with losing a game (or more) for a "clerical error." But I guess they are doing it like golf -- you are responsible for keeping score accurately.

He speaks English. Unfortunately, it's too late now.

No, he can still do it and say he forgot. There's still time before the end of the match. Somebody needs to text somebody there on site. He is up 9 to 8 now and should be on the hill.

Although in golf, you can correct it before you finally turn it in!

That is true. They do that in golf. That's why pro golfers have caddies, I guess. In a different world, the pro player should have a corner man for just this reason.

No

He loses credit for the game won if he breaks before moving the bead. That's the rules discussed during the players meeting.

Maybe i'm misunderstanding the situation with not marking the game, I thought if they fail to mark there game before they break its not counted, I thought thats what occurred here. maybe some can clarify what the ruling is.

Are you kidding me? I have never heard of such a rule. That is terrible.

Pro players should be afforded corner men in pro events. I'm going to bring it up with somebody. I don't know who, but I'm going to make some noise if Van-Van loses by one game.:frown:

Correct

You must move your bead BEFORE breaking the next game.

If Keith Bennett beats Darren Appleton, I'm going off my diet tonight and having some ice cream. :D
