I have sold a bunch of cues over the years. There are maybe only a small handful that I am glad I sold. Most of them, I wish I had kept, among them were a fancy mottey, a bluegrass, even a schon and a dale perry. Yeah thats right, wish I never sold my dale perry. lol

Hey folks, back in 2010 I sold a matched set of cues to a buddy of mine. The player cue was without a doubt one of the best hitting cues I've ever played with. It was instant sellers remorse when I let it go. Now, I have the chance to buy back that player cue and the matching jump break I had built for it.

So there's my question, have you ever sold a cue that you know you shouldn't have let go and would you even think twice about buying it back years later if given the chance?

Edited to add a little more to my post. Back in 2010 I sold my Jensen matched set to someone. Over the past six months or so I've been looking on azb and going through all of my old posts to try and find who I sold it to. The other day I was at a tournament and a friend of mine walks in who I haven't seen or talked to in at least two years. We were talking and he says to me "hey you know I still have the three cues you sold me years ago". I knew of one that he has but I couldn't think of the other two. So I say "three cues?". He says "yeah the one with the ostrich wrap and the two Jensen cues". I said with excitement "the matching Jensen cues?????". He said yes. Long story short we had a good talk and I told him a bunch of memories I had with that player cue. He's a good, honest guy and tells me if I want to buy the cues back he will sell them to me. My buddy is kind of a hoarder when it comes to cues and rarely ever let's anything go. But because of the emotional attachment I have to that matched set he has given me his word and promised that the cues are not going anywhere until I can save up the money to buy them back.

I can post pics of the cues if y'all want me to?

Thanks, John

Can't say this was my favorite cue but it was my first cue and certainly my favorite at the time. I am not sure what I would be willing to to pay to get it back it if I didn't still have it.
It's a Brunswick Master Stroke. I got it in the early 60's. Bought it new at the pool room I think it was like $18.00

Here is the Jensen matched set I am talking about in my original post. My buddy has them and is willing to sell them back to me at the price he bought them for when I can afford it. The player cue is from 2003. In 2008 I had Mike build the j/b to match. The two butts and five shafts are in the same exact condition I left them in. The player has three shafts with ivory ferrules. The j/b has two shafts. I had the player cue years before I eventually sent it away to Mike to have the matching jump/break built. I'm going to get these cues back. Come hell or high water, I'll get them back. These pics are my pics that I took four years ago when the J/B was shipped to my house.

Sure can see why you want 'em back. Classic style...a matched pair of beauties!

There have been times when I was strapped for cash and sold my playing cue and then a few days later, I'd still be broke, but also without a cue.

Money comes and goes but once a cue is gone, it's probably gone forever!

Before I got the Schon that I ordered in 1990,I played with a Meucci Oldie-5 that was supposedly made specifically for Jim Rempe, but got sent back or something. I got it for 300 with 4 shafts. Several months after I got it,Rempe signed it. I was breaking with it and going thru ferrules, and had all 4 replaced with original Aegis by Bill McDaniel.

The day I got my Schon,I sold it for 20 bucks with all 4 shafts. I haven't seen the cue or the guy I sold it to since. Tommy D.

Damn right I would, if I could afford to. A Titlist Ginacue I bought from Denny Searcy in 1973 for $80. After I sold it and it was sold again and ended up in Kersenbrock's shop having two matching shafts made for it. The shafts as I recall were very well done and may have that weird grayish white material in the ferrule (Westinghouse?). It has a crack in the butt starting from the joint downwards for about one inch or so. The original owner's name, opposite of GINACUE, has been rubbed out and there's a slight dip where the etched name once appeared. Fairly heavy cue. Great balance.

I definitely would. I had bobby hunter make Me a cue when I was 17. I sold it a few years later to a guy named Steve housch (sp?) in Sacramento. I heard he sold it to pat mclane later. I'd love to get it back for the right price. If anyone knows him please find out I it's for sale.

Never have sold a cue...guess I'm weird.

Same for me, I still have all mine, I did give a few away to friends over the years, mostly imports that I won in tournaments or raffles, back in the mid 70's a neighbor gave me an old Brunswick in a plaid case, I remember it had a really fat shaft and a strange coarse thread joint and a blank brass nameplate in the butt and it had a black leather wrap, he said it came from his dad's house who had passed away a long time ago and Brunswick had given it to him with the table he bought. I gave it to friend who was on our Busch league team around 87, his name was Rick, he loved the fat shaft and leather wrap, I lost touch with him in the early 90’s. To this day, I have never sold a pool cue, talk about weird.:shakehead:

Yes, I sold a nice Adam Cue that was one of a kind... really like to have it back now

All I want back is a Lil Al Romero Purple Heart sneaky I sold foolishly.

Oh hell yes, Bob Frey, stainless joint, ebony butt sleeve,,4 Ebony Points, BEM forearm, dark honey stain, Flame Veneers, leather wrap, 3 shafts, 2 standard & 1-31" shaft with black linen Micarta ferrule. If anyone has this cue please PM me.

I only ever sold one cue I owned. It was the first player I ever bought myself, a pretty simple looking Falcon with a 314 pred shaft. The buyer's remorse kicked in pretty quick after I sold it, managed to get it back down the road and told myself I would never sell a cue I owned again.

I know that cue. But I doubt Pat would part with it. He plays at Hard Times in Sacramento.
