I know this is not a pro tourney but it is quite famous in Reno and been going on for over 15 years every 6 months and some great players play in it, yet not any coverage. It ends today and nobody has a clue.
The setup in Reno is such that it would be simple to give some updates and take about a minute a day. Oh well. There has to be someone there that posts here.

Usually I have updates from this event. Have not been able to get any info this time. Still hoping to have coverage of the pro event.

Ok.. here's your chance to be the one that informs the forum.....

Call Tony Annigoni... at 831-277-0216

I know that nbr, had it for years. That is his job. That is not the point.

Tom in Cincy, after this Reno event, most of the players travel on over to your neck of the woods to play in the Hardtimes Jamboree, and I'm hoping to read all about it right here, a full report for the inquiring minds back home! :p

Cmon again Tom

It can be simple... if you don't want to call Tony, call the Sands hotel and ask for the tournament directors desk...

You want the info.. call.

Why are you being fascious? This is for the benefit of all forum members. I know how to call. My son and a lot of my customers are there, I can call., trying to get some infor for all forum members (maybe thousands) that might be interested. Should I tell them to all call. I sure know I can call Barbara Mcdonald and get all the weeks info but since Tony and this forum work hand in hand and since Tony always talks about his website but yet we don't even get any information on that. No reason for it.
Thanks for all the info though, as if I didn't know it.

I will be 'kinda busy' during this time. Scott Smith and I are running the tournament again this year. 10am till way after midnite, leaves little time to give updates.

I will get the brackets to Mike Howerton and will send updates at the end of each day.

It would be nice for someone (a spectator taking notes?) to provide daily interesting stories.

Maybe Nfty9r.. could volunteer

Your so funny

Well I was going to be there to play but now I am not so sure.

If I can make it there and have any access to a computer afterwards, I'll post as much stuff as I can. I don't know if I'll make the nine ball but I should at least be at the one pocket for 1-2 days and will try to write down results.

I am thinking I might make it to Hard Times for the 9-ball tournament. I'm not going to Reno this Summer. I took quite a bit of vacation time between my wedding and the honeymoon. If I use that week to go to Reno, I definitely won't be able to go to the US Open. ;)

USPPA finals...

Heya,
If it helps any... I just got back from the USPPA Reno tourney. Unfortunately, I didn't stay for the final match... but I can say the last I saw it was 'Duke', Gilbert, Austin Murphy, and I believe Colin Mazaika in the final four.

A little sidenote.. great after hours matchup between Tony Chohan and Marlon Manalo. Some fantastic shooting from both of them. Apparently, it was 10 ahead for $3500 with Manalo giving Tony the 8. They played for hours but they couldn't finish before closing time so it's going to be continued tonight.

Tony was 6 ahead when they quit at 6. Will finish tonight.
Evidently much more side action than on the game.
Richard Byrnes taking all side action , he was betting Manalo, he was even betting when tony was up 2 games.

No you didn't

You asked a question, I gave answers. I wasn't being funny, I was trying to be helpful. Apparently you took it the wrong way.

I was there Thursday and Friday for the mini tournament from 1030am starting with the signups for both events, til 3am when play was suspended until Friday nite at 11pm for the final 8 players. I was on-line for 6 hours and still couldn't get more than a few posts from the TD's table.

The Sands only offers dialup internet access and only 1 line in the tournament room and I was using it and running the tournament, making up score sheets, posting results and trying to answer the same questions from every player "Any idea when I play next?" plus all the players that didn't signup for the mini that were playing in the USPPA main event asked CONSTANTLY... "when will the brackets be posted?"

It was like 188 players kept asking the same question 10 times.

If you really want updates.. you'll have to call someone you know and ask.

You were being fascisious. You know I know how to call. You did not have to tell me that but you did. I have known Tony as a personal friend for 30 years I know how to call him. I have been and played in all Reno tournaments since its inception. I know the workings quite well. I have run tournaments all my life and I know what you go through and I feel for you. However I was not asking you to do anything on Thursday or Friday , there was nothing to post. I was trying to stir the pot to get some action. As much as the Sands and Tony advertise and market the usppa and the open you would think it would be a simple thing to post some info in 4 days. You do not use a telephone line to post scores, scoresheets, do matches etc etc. but that is immaterial. It was 4 days and of all the people working there, Linda, Barbara, Gilbert, Hal, etc etc. someone could post a 1 minute update on the phone line or someone could go to Barbara Woodwards office and post. She would love any extra publicity for the Sands. So that is where I was coming from. Not for me personally. It was for the forum people who might be interested around the world.
Your answers made it seem I was in the dark. I was born at night but not last night.
See ya in Sacramento. I hope

Do you know how to read?

So, you were trying to stir things up... ok... and you know how to get all the info you need... ok... but you didn't... ok.. but I am the 'funny' one..

and BTW, exactly how was I suppose to know you knew everything already???

FOR THE LAST TIME THIS WAS FOR THE FORUM, NOT ME.

WELL YOU WERE SURE IMPLYING I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO USE A PHONE SO I CAN ONLY SURMISE YOUR ARE THE FUNNY ONE.

YOU DON'T GET IT SO FORGET IT.

If I sounded like I was implying you did not know how to use the phone I apologize. That was not my intent.

As far as not getting it, from the last few posts, I have to admit, I did miss your point in the orginal post, for that I sincerly apologize.

I deleted all my stupid posts on this subject.

Update Reno

First thanks Tom, lots of class.

I know the forum is more interested in the action than usppa results so this is the scoop.
Chohan and Manalo had to quit playing when Tony was up 6 games when last we left. 9 balll, Tony getting 8.
The next night they played for hours with Tony getting to 8 ahead a couple of times but not being able to secure the $3500 bet. After 5 hours Marlon Manalo got the set to even and at this point the players agreed on changing the race to 8 ahead with the stipulation that they flip for the break as it was Marlon's break. They did and Tony won the break but within an hour Manalo won the set and the cheese.

Back to the USPPA , my buddies did not remember the guys name that won it but said 11 year old Austin Murphy got 3rd, probably about a $1200 pay day.
How great was that. Believe that Duke was second and Gilbert Arrelano 3rd.
Have a call in for Tony Annigoni to post or call with official results.
Thanks

I've searched online for any info or place to go to find brackets or updates... looks like those of us interested in the pro event are shit out of luck just like those of you that wanted updates from earlier.  :(
