4 reasons to visit the PI

This is funny, I just came on here to ask about how to track down where Efren would be in the country. I have a friend going to Manila and was going to ask him to get an autograph and pic of Efren for my son.

I met a Dr. Reyes today. I asked him if he was related to Efren.

His eyes lit up and he said, "Do you know billiards? Efren and Jose Parica were my heroes growing up like football is here."

He then told me how the youngest children there play on tables with 4 small pockets using discs on powder, not balls...until they get older "then they switch to a real table and the pockets are huge for them. That's why they're so good."

I tried talking him into a game, but he was working.

Firebrand Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday he would cancel an order for about 27,000 American-made assault rifles, in his latest display of defiance against the United States.

The rifles were due to be provided to the Philippine police but Duterte said he would look for cheaper alternatives.

"The (rifles) that were ordered already, I am ordering the police to cancel it....

I'm guessing that at least ONE gun will soon make it to his doorstep.

Duterte reminds me of someone else... hmmm.
I admire his spirited attitude and methods for dealing with drug dealers and the cartels behind them. I have a close friend in PI right now that moved there over a year ago for good. He is loving it. I may join him before too long.

Not now.

I spent many a day in Subic Bay during the Viet Nam war. I like the Philippine people.

Most of them were a hard working fun loving bunch. They have some great fighters when pressed into battle. Unfortunately their current elected leader does not like the United States and prefers communist China.

I guess their president forgot that we rescued them and saved them from the Japanese that murdered, tortured and raped their way across the South Pacific. If it was not for the U.S. their country would not be a free one and many of their citizens would of died.

My Uncle was 19 when he was shot and killed by a Japanese sniper in Mindanao. Many more Americans died their so their country would be free and survive.

I would love to take my wife back their, after their knuckle head president is out of office.

Like you, the current President and his attitude toward the USA concerns me. For me the Philippines is my second home with a second family there (girl friend/fiancee and daughter). I really like the Filipino people (for the most part - there are some bad eggs there as well). They are welcoming and friendly to foreigners. If you are a single man, there is no better place to find a great gal. In their culture the woman is taught to take care of their man first. Kind of the opposite of what we have here.

The most beautiful women on earth are right here in the good old U.S.A...if you know how to get them and treat them. Johnnyt

Played this when I was a kid! I miss it!

I can see how learning like this with discs is a great precursor to shooting pool. It teaches the beginners how to aim, natural cue ball paths and tangent lines by eliminating the effects of unintended spin. Once they really understand aiming and natural cue ball paths they can move on to learning how to use spin and its effects. Considering the level of players coming from the Philippines it seems like a system that works.
