What started out to be a 'simple' redo of the basement playroom into a pool room, turned out to be a major (yet extremely gratifying) undertaking. Not a great pool player by any means, but when I do something, I tend to go all out. I am extremely blessed and fortunate to have (argueably) the best playing table installed by (one of) the best pool mechanics in the country. Jay from A1 Billiards in Manchester, NH, was simply fantastic and he and his team did an outstanding job installing the table. I can't thank him enough for his time in person and on the phone, and for his patience while I finished the room.
It started with the table, seeing it at a tournament that Jay had set up, and I immediately fell in love with the black oak. What a gorgeous table. From there we designed the entire room, with ebony-stained oak and natural maple.
I did most of the basic work but my brother (artist, builder, master craftsman) is the brains and hands behind the really cool work, including the handmade light fixture. Here are some pics if you're interested in checking it out.
It's been in for a few weeks and we've been enjoying it with the entire family. It's a great equalizer that anyone can be good at. (My wife won her first 6 games and took on the name 'mama shark')
