6 Ball as a whole

Maybe my table breaks weird, breaking head on, the two corner balls hit the end rail just inside of the corner pocket and go 4 rails into the pocket. Not every time, of course, but it happens a bit. Maybe once in ten games.

The corner balls potentially going 4 rails back to the corner pockets is the standard behavior of all “triangle” racks (8b, 10b). But 6b has much less mass & they spread out tough. Making 1 ball in 10 racks sounds about right, 10% makes it awefully hard to beat any decent rotation player, esp on a barbox. Hence the discussion 😁

The guy I was replying to has only made one ball on the break in months. Unless he only plays 2 games a month, that's much less than 1 in 10. I just made 3 balls in 10 breaks and I haven't even developed my 6 ball break. Maybe the worn cloth on my table holds the balls slightly more favorably or his pockets are stingier than mine. Like you say still not enough to beat a decent rotation player.

I think 6 and 7 ball are actually quite appropriate for C players- runouts are possible at that level, but not a sure thing like it is for higher level players. I'm just an average player, so 7 ball was challenging enough.
As a pretty average player these days, playing in league with many pretty average players, I think a lot of folks would be happy playing 7 ball. Playing the 7 ball ghost is my go to practice drill. If APA and other leagues for normal folks swapped their odd scoring of 9 ball for normal rules 7 ball, I think we'd see quicker matches and a game that plays closer to pro 9 ball. Who wouldn't like to have more break and runs?

I played the 6 ball ghost the other day ,lost the first then won 5 straight starting with ball in hand . I was able to make a ball on the break every game ,2 balls went in several times .The table is an os 8 foot Gandy with big pockets and nappy cloth . Maybe I was having a good day but the game was way too east starting with BIH .

one of the best scores i made was against Jack Red playing 6ball on the bar table at Betty's off of Reed Rd in Houston. Winner breaks. I don't remember having trouble making a ball on the break.

RIP Jack Red

Most people it is the exact opposite. Probably why the break is offered to a person.

The AZB ghost challenge thread had a 6 ball category, I encourage people to submit their videos. I think I'm the only one this year so far.
