LOL

He's posted over there 4 times today alone. 8 or 9 times in the last 2 days.

that is true, didn't mean to hurt anyones feelings, love all you jackasses!

though i've posted 4-5 times today, i haven't been on any forum for almost two years, except for maybe 4-5 times. i've just recently fell in love with pool all over again. jackass just seems to be my word of the day!

I love how you post a CAD of "your" design and say it's going to be a different style. It's the same EXACT style, it's only very gently altered.

Sure, Tim Scruggs doesn't own spear/diamond inlays, but he DOES own the design of the cue you're copying.

You're making an exact copy of the TS cue except for the following:
1) You're changing the veneer colors (one of which is nearly the same, silver/holly)
2) You're using a few less inlays
3) You're very slightly altering the shape of the inlays in the butt
4) You're going to alter (to what degree?) the inlays in the joint collar (which are already very subtle on the TS cue)

You're copying the overall design of the cue. There's a fine line where "inspiration" becomes "thievery", and your plans for this cue step WAY over. I can't believe your titanium balls posting a thread like this. It amazes me that you think this is OK.

I'm getting tired of the idiots making jokes about copying so-and-so's points and veneers. That's a ****ing stupid rationalization that doesn't apply. Copying a DESIGN (not a single design or construction element) is wrong. This is copying a design and making extremely minor alterations. That is only OK if you own the original design. You don't.

You're stealing the work/blood/sweat/time/money that Tim Scruggs sacrificed in the name of artistic creation because you're too lazy and lacking in honor or respect to do it yourself. The same thing applies to ANY other cuemaker that does the same thing.

Lame.
I'm going to keep this short and simple MR. vision please stay out of my threads you've been a sly ball buster from day one and I'm now getting very tired of your shit I'm one houre from "Virginia"

if you would Like to talk about this face to face:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Shame on Leon for copying a Scruggs inlay pattern that Scruggs stole from someone that stole it from someone, that stole it from someone that stole it from someone that stole it from someone, that stole it from someone, that stole it from someone that stole it from someone that stole it from someone that stole it from the originator that was probably Szamboti or Mottey...

Not to mention the spearhead probably being a GSzam inlay in the prong...

Is there no honor among thieves???!?!?!?!??!?!?! :p

Quite honestly if I am a cuemaker and my stuff ain't been copied WTF does that say about me? LOL

I've seen this pattern in very close copies, very loose copies, and dead on copies by many cuemakers, as you can see there are many variations of whomever's original pattern this is.

Do you often resort to a threatening tone? Can't you refute my points in a proper debate? I'll be at the US Open and SBE. You sound a lot like Varney when he started drawing criticism. "You're messing with my business, so I'm going to threaten your well-being, ****er!"

I don't mind having a chat, but not the kind it sounds like you want to have. If you're just going to threaten everyone that criticizes you, GOOD LUCK with your business. I'll leave you alone, you're ruining yourself just fine.

the cue

im just wondering if anyone who has been posturing and posing has spent 60 hours in front of a lathe, 20 years doing something to develope a product, 50 thousand on tools, networking with other cuemakers to bring to the market the best product we can. if you have and you have designed anything better than your revel model kit, then you may have earned the right to take a shot a another cuemaker or anyone who has dedicated this much of his or her life. if that is what you need then you should not be in a public forum. the world has places for the weaker people who cant do and hate those that try and can.
leon i think the cue will be a killer, tell your customer he made a good choice, not only in design, but the cuemaker as well.
best regards
freaky ands rob

Man you guys are off the reservation IMHO and I dont know any of you except Leon. Like I said I would have asked Tim to make it but he cant. I have know Tim since our Jack and Jill days in Glen Burnie, thats going back 20 years. Now he is retired, I loved this cue from the first time I saw it. Bought a 6 pointer earlier from Leon and that is how we met, saw his work and thought why not let him build me a cue. By the way I own a white BMW 650 so make sure none of you go out and get one because that would be copying my car, right LMAO silly shit on this site, you would think people have better things to do with the time they have.

Good post joe...now I would Like to mention 5 years ago I bought the panto machine from mike & tim there were 13 Design patterns that were giving to me to be used for my cues did tim or mike care if i was going to copy there cues hell no if so they sure as hell would have not giving those plates to me for use in my cues ....also I bought there CNC SHAFT MACHINE with all the shaft programs sneaky pete tapers Lets just say I have all the "programs" can I copy a scruggs if I want yes to a tee..do I need to no for those of you that want to bust my balls go for it Life is to short for all these forum games I have plenty of work to keep me busy!!

Honestly Leon, if you did not post a link to the Scruggs site I would have never questioned the design. I'm sure it will look great on it's own like most of the cues you have made in the last 12-18 months. I will exclude the sneakies and PJ's as you have moved away from them for the most part.

Your attention to detail has multiplied many times over since you have started doing pointwork and inlays. For that, I must tip my hat.

Leon, is it true that Tim Scruggs always refers to you as Sly in the family Stallone? He must like you a little. lol p.s. That was nice of Chris to state his compliments about your work IMO.

For the poster who was bustin Leons chops about "threats" if you also look in the forum rules it says "name calling" is also not allowed. There are some name calling moments right here in this thread, from another member, and I don't hear you complaining about that.

Considering how long custom cues have been made, there are bound to be similarities or even very close renditions that are going to be made. There is nothing wrong with that. I would have a problem with another cuemaker exactly copying, say, another cuemakers ring work. i.e. Using Haley's or Barnhart's ringwork on their cues. As for inlays, if the cue is not inlaid with extreme patterns there are going to eventually be cues made in the future with similar patterns. You won't see any cuemakers making cues like anothers that are so intricate. i.e. SBE cue of the show contest.

I have had a design idea in my head for over a couple of years now and since I thought up the idea, I have seen 2 cues from 2 different cuemakers complete an EXACT cue. Does that mean they stole my idea?...not possible. Maybe I would like to think that they have "good" taste like I or vise versa. Should I toss my idea now that I have seen cues exactly like it?...hell no. I am still going to have the cue made eventually.

My whole point is don't shit on someone's work just because it may be similar or even close to exact. Appreciate it for what it is. My mother taught me "if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all."

The gentleman having Leon make the cue stated that he would have gone to Tim if Tim had still been building cues. He's doing the next best thing, going to a cuemaker he is confident will complete a cue that he will be happy with.

Keep up the good, tough, work Leon. I'm obviously not the only one that thinks you put out phenominal cues and understands the hours and hard work you have done to get where you are today. Rob.

Thank god I have my ts because I love the cue and couldn't care less what someone else makes. I don't give a crap if someone makes an exact copy of my Scruggs...which by the way is pretty damn unique.... Because I have the real deal! I've been offered almost twice what I paid for my Scruggs and have people tell me I'm crazy for turning it down. I didn't buy it to make money..I bought it to enjoy. It seems resale And "omg those points look just like so In SO's points"is all some people are worried about on here.

Later "extra" TS shaft question...

What if someone wants a new or replacement TS shaft.. since Mr. Sly
has the original TS shaft machine and programming...he would be the obvious choice for a new "replacement" shaft, Would he not???
Where does that fall into the grand scheme of things in this thread's arguements ???

I would think that permissions would have to be granted, but if all the programs were given at time of sale, then I think it is more of a
Professional courtesy to Mr. Scruggs. I am sure that this too could be debated to no end. Ultimatelty it lies between Both Mr. Scruggs and Mr. Sly.
Personally, I would ask before making a replacement shaft. I wouldn't
think that it should be an issue, since the programs were sold with the machine. I guess people can pick over details all day long.

I am just posing the question out of my own curiosity.

The cues posted look very nice. I like the silver gray veneers. Silver accents somewhere in the cue would really tie in nicely. I can't wait to see the pics when done.
Awesome work Mr. Sly.

Seems to me Hero and CMD have been Sly bashers in almost every post I have read of thiers. What is it jealous that you can't touch his level of skill? Maybe he won't sell you a cue seeing your not on his list. CMD always seems to pop out with a negative question concerning Sly cues that incites a few others to chime in and make for a good read. It has gotten to where everytime I log on to AZ I look for all the Sly threads ... After all that is where the action is and all the excitement these days.

To me Sly has always been a man of his word and always put out high quality work. His cues play wonderful and are a great bargain for the money spent. He works hard to give the buyer what they want in a cue and more. You may have to wait longer then you want for your cue but when you get it it is well done and a great player. You can't throw these things together over night and if you find someone that can then something is wrong with that picture.

You know what they say about people posting bad things about someone in a business... As long as you keep putting the name out there he is getting recognized and getting business. All your intents on trying to slam the man seem to have him growing stronger and stronger... The simple fact is that you can't keep a good man down and it is obvious that Sly is putting out a great product and his business is growing .

Wow some how after reading all these posts I get the feeling that Crazy Horse and Setting Bull are off far away on thier Happy Hunting Grounds mad as hell at every cue maker who has ever stole thier idea of the arrow heads. When they exact thier revenge it wont be called Custard's Last stand this time any ideas what the new name will be ? LOL....;)

I will address this post later. Some people like to edit their posts. Guilt is an awful emotion to deal with at times.

Can't touch his skill level... That's funny...

Be back soon,

Seems to me Hero and CMD have been Sly bashers in almost every post I have read of thiers.

I did not bash Leon, I asked him a simple question. If he did not delete his post, you could read exactly what he wrote. Oh wait - I did. Here it is.

CUE WILL HAVE 34 IVORY INLAYS WHEN IT'S FINISHED. HERE'S WHAT THE CUE WILL LOOK LIKE WHEN FINISHED WITH SILVER GRAY VENEERS & IVORY OVER STAINLESS JOINT.http://www.timscruggs.com/TS-newcue-68.htm

What is it jealous that you can't touch his level of skill? Maybe he won't sell you a cue seeing your not on his list. CMD always seems to pop out with a negative question concerning Sly cues that incites a few others to chime in and make for a good read.

I am not a cuemaker, so how I could be jelaous of his talent level?

I've never asked Leon to build me a cue. However his biggest fan (Bobco729), suggested I buy one on several occassions. I politley declined. Not for the quality of work but the fact that I have plenty of cues to play with that I am very happy. AND I also have 7-8 cues on order from other cuemakers.

Obviously you do not read every post, so here is the last post I wrote to this thread:

Notice how I do not edit MY posts for content? I do not live with any regret or remorse from what I write. Good or bad. Cowards hide, I do not.

My original (and unedited) question was neither negative or inflammatory. Leon answered my question politely as well. If he doesn't have an issue, why do you? OBVIOUSLY he is not afraid of doling out physical threats.
