We are getting a 6 X 12 Snooker table and would like to know from pool rooms or people that go to pool rooms. What the rates are to play? Looking for information on 6 x 12 foot snooker tables only. Thanks Waldo's

We just put a second table in, and charge regular rates, no specials allowed on the snooker tables. The snooker tables have more action on them then most 9 footers... once the word got out we have a top notch table, people travel at least an hour each way to play on it. regular rate is like $8 an hour

What I like to do if there playing golf charge them $1-2 each an hour. If you find its the last table to rent out and people dont want it give it out free until another table opens up charge them a flat rate for playing on the snooker table and give them a couple of sodas free. If ou work with them everyone is happy and will come back.

The poolhall i helped out at somepeople didnt like the big table but loved it on a regular 9 footer and liked the game of snooker eventualy went back to the big table. It all started with kindness from a waiting list and the snooker is always the last table to rent out. Eventualy even regulars start playing on it when the see a waiting list a party of 4 or more waitng for a regular table. Have them move over to the snooker and give the waitng party the regular table. this way its a win for the poolhall.

We used to drive 3 hours from Steamboat Springs to go play in Vernal Utah a few tiems a month, just because they had a snooker table.
During the tournaments they would have a $5 buy in for Golf on the snooker table, with no table time added. That table saw more games than the tournament tables did.
Little things like that got us hooked enough to keep coming back.
But other than that, it was the same price to play as the other tables.
I forget what Jim used to charge in Colorado Springs at Antique Billiards, but it was comparable to normal table time, too.

Why would you charge more? Every room I have played in that had a snooker table charged the same rate as regular pool time. $x.xx per hr. per person. Don't take advantage of a persons preference or desire to play snooker instead of pool.

I think its fair for a room owner to charge more for a snooker table. The cloth is very expensive and labor is more to cover a snooker table as well. Combine those factors with the additional space required and it doesn't make cents to charge the same as a pool table that has about half of the playing surface. Moving in a snooker table is more costly than a pool table and a good one is NOT cheap. I would be happy to pay more to play on a nice snooker table. Sort of like a heated billiard table, if one place has a billiard table that is lets say an antique, and another has a heated one, where do you want to play. Almost like golf, you can play on a public OK course or you can play at a private awesome club. They don't cost the same. IMO

I'm compiling a list of U.S. pool halls with snooker tables. If your site is Uncle Waldo's in Daytona Beach, then you're already on my list.

Once the list is compiled I'll be posting links to it in the Snooker forum. It'd be great if folks with snooker tables got in touch.

Stay tuned.

the problem with this is that a lot of pool halls have trouble getting players to play on a snooker table because there are so few real snooker advocates. Most people want to play pool in the US.

So, yes, you may be able to charge more to the hardcores who come to play on your table (especially a 12 footer), but there are gonna be huge gaps of time when you have no one on it.

I would be more inclined to play snooker more often if the pool hall in Dallas with a snooker table (the billiard den) didn't charge even more than they do for 9' diamond pro ams. They also do this for their carom table... both the tables are 10' tables (the equivalent of playing on an 8 foot table for regular pool). As a result, rarely will Billiard Den have anyone playing on either of these tables.. and when they do get some golf or snooker players coming in, they don't play long because the rates are so high and they can be paying less to play on a nice 9 foot Diamond which is the highest quality table for the type of game you are playing.

A 12 foot snooker table is regulation size and the cream of the crop. If you are gonna charge more, don't make it much more and only do it during peak hours. You should definitely have specials or day rates for your snooker table to get more people interested in the game. 95% of people are never going to pay EXTRA money to play a game they are not familiar with and has a stigma of being "european" to the ol' boys.
