72 Ball Run

Funny

The Doc said that I will be stopping the medication soon. Feeling great and it's easier playing pool.

great article... my dad used to live in pecan hill.

being in-shape has got to improve your game. just watching the miz wallow around the table made me tired and even slightly nauseous. i don't understand how he could play like that.

generally, if you eat like most people, you will suffer the same rates of disease and decrepitude as they. my basic mantra for life is 'do the opposite'. look what is in the shopping carts at the store, then look at the person who's pushing that cart. if you don't want to look like them, don't put that crap in your cart. well, with the notable exception of beer.

Your funny but your statement is so true & I do look at people and what is in their shopping cart. We think the same.
One of my main problems over the years is drinking soda. I was so hooked on cokes and had to have cake or cookies every day. I had not had either since Jan and the weight has flew off me.

My Thanks to you & Steve for the nice comments.

eating your way to high runs

straightman: don't even purse a soda to your lips. even the diet soda is bad for you. it's loaded with phosphoric acid! you don't want that... funny that you too look at shopping carts.... i saw this woman at wallyworld who was in one of those electric carts because she was too ****ing fat to walk the store. she had so many sodas that she had to attach them to the outside of the basket.

i can't help but believe that eating properly will improve your mental and physical well being. that will in turn reflect in your pool game. exercise is also part of this equation. i get really down on myself when i neglect to lift weights or hit my heavy bag. here's what i ate for lunch and dinner today, if anyone cares.

I agree with both you sausage and straight man. I try to eat healthy as well, and get upset when i dont. For instance, I love pizza, but can only allow myself to have it like once a week. Its so bad for you yet so good. Never was big on sodas, just the beer. Also I try to have 2-3 servings of veggies or fruits a day. Its very important to do that, also eating organic is so much better for you. Try to avoid stuff with lots of preservatives. Just last night I made chicken breast, corn and instant mashed potatoes. I looked at the ingredients for those mashed potatoes and a thought popped in my head, "cancer". I guess I will have to try and do some real potatoes in the future. Its hard sacrificing convience to eat healthy though.

centerpocket: i have changed the way i eat many times. i first quit eating farm raised animals because in michigan they contaminated ALL OF THE COWS IN THE STATE because some retard mixed PCB's in with the cow feed. that cow feed was then shipped. the cows were dying in the fields and the ranchers sent them to slaughter so that they didn't have to take a loss. nice.... after that i didn't trust their product and i also became concerned about cruelty issues. http://www.meat.org/index-1.asp?c=gwtdba0510.... but what struck me about your post is that i then changed my diet again after learning about high glycemic foods. potatoes are BAD especially mashed. i would have never believed it... http://www.glycemicindex.com/ but it made sense so i ruled out even more foods from my diet.

We are getting off the point

A friend called a local magazine company about me and feed them all kinds of stuff. Well, they called and I accepted their interview offer. Turns out I am in this month's issue.
The photo of me was taken back in Jan.
I have lost 49 lbs since then. I had type II diabetes & high blood pressure and had to be put on medication. Since I lost the weight. My reading are all in the normal range. The Doc said that I will be stopping the medication soon. Feeling great and it's easier playing pool.

What is this becoming "Hell's Kitchen" here or is this a 14.1 Fourm?....LOL
Thanks for being so concern but lets get back to pool.

Mike, the story of your pool table is very touching. When watching your future runs I will now tell myself all the way, that's the very table he received in 1968!

ok ok no more food talk, but do your self some good and rent Food Inc. Good movie that will open up your eyes.

105 on Today's Date

:>) Ran 105 just a little while ago with good position through out the whole run. There is a Big problem..............
My VHS recorder ran out to the end of the tape and I did not get the last 36 balls recorded. I have been trying so hard to run 100 again for a long time & now that I do, this happens to me........ I was practicing for a long time before I got into this run. I lost a lot of good tape time prior to the run.
Anyways on this date 05/19/10 I ran my fourth run over 100.
I feel great and a lot more confident. Maybe, I can do it soon again. I will be more careful with the tapes & charging batteries.

Post'er up man... there aren't a whole lot of 100s on tape, even if you count accustats instructionals. I'll watch anyone run 100. Gotta be something to learn in the midst of all those balls.

Way to go on the 105, Mike. (I told you it was coming soon!)

And nice article, too.

Great run Mike! It sounds like you need a longer tape and a camcorder that runs off of AC power! :p In fact, I have one you can borrow if you like! It's nothing fancy, but it's digital, runs off of AC and saves to an SDHC card.

This also reminds me that I need to get my paperwork in for Volcano's Straight Pool League! It's due Monday!

How did your run end? Bad position, bad luck or just a miss?

congratulations! With that new level of confidence you will repeat similar run and come up with more and better, no doubt.

Thanks

Thanks for the offer but my old video recorder is good as long as I pay attention to the recording time for tape use & battery time.
I really messed up on this run. I was real busy working around the house yesterday & was practicing for a while but kept on messing up small runs either by super bad shape or getting the cue ball stuck some where on the table. I knew the tape was getting low but I told myself that when I miss, I'm going to bed. Well, it turned out that I was making one rack after another but my attitude was bad. I continued to think, I'm going to miss soon and I'm done. The run kept going. I had music playing and I could not hear the recorder stop.
I ended up not getting easy position on a ball and had to play a ball up the rail about 4" from the rail. I missed it by a lot. It was very makable. I was mad at myself for messing up that easy position and was thinking about it when I was shooting the shot that I missed. All things that I tell players not to do.
This really hurts not getting this run on video. Not only did I want it for myself and to post but I have wanted to run a 100 on video for my mentor Leroy Kinman for so long now it's not funny. He is 81 and I know he would truly like to see me do so well. I am going to try to get that 100 on video for him as soon as I can. After that run last night & after posting. I wasn't even tired anymore. I went back in the game room and ran 60 with it ending in a scratch with the cue ball going threw a small opening in the rack without hitting any balls and going in the corner..... That is when I hung up the cue.

isnt that amazing....you probably looked at it scratching your head saying to yourself, How Does the ball fit through there with touching nothing !!!

I look forward to seeing one of your good runs soon.

Steve

hey straightman: your game is approaching "hero" status.

i bought a tiny panasonic Sdr-S7 with a 16gb SD card. no need for tape. these things are cheap online.

105 Ball Run Again............

This is Unbelieveable..........
I just ran 105 balls again and this time, I have it all on video. I am really happy. I had ran 19 balls, made a nice clean shot on the 19th ball and sent the cue ball into the remaining rack that was stuck together. Broke it up nicely. Turned out, I had no shot any where. I played a shot that I had a 0% chance of making and missed. I then ran the last 8 balls to set up for a break shot. That was the start of the run. The run ended on a missed shot, there was a cluster of balls by a rail that were just laying bad during the rack. I attempted to break them up earlier but position was an inch off each time setting up for a break out. I knew that cluster was going to get me (negative thinking) Sure enough, it ended my run. I was not sure how many balls that I had made. I knew that I was near 100.
Anyways..... 105 balls twice in two days. Life is Good.
