8-ball layout - how do you run out this table?

Your turn at the table, you've got solids. What do you do?

(After some suggestions here I will post what Efren did when facing this layout)

CueTable Help

cut the 6 into the 7. (hanging the 6 around the corner pocket), then the 4-5-6-8...(assuming that the 5 can be played into the corner pocket..or off the 11 into the corner pocket)

Shoot the seven for position on the four. Shoot the four for position on the five. Play the five off the eleven clearing it out and rolling the cue up for the six in the same pocket the seven was made in. Make the six roll ru and off the rail to play the eight in the corner.

I might even draw the cue ball back into the 5 and knock it out. I think the idea is the 5 wont go into that pocket. Should leave you with a shot on the 4 at the very least.

I don't think I could draw into the 5 if the 6 is froze to the rail as it looks. (FOR ME) it is much easier to make the 6 cut into the 7 with inside english...meaning the CB is going away from the 5.

If I tried to draw off of the 6 I would probably scratch in the corner.

Again...This is all based on if I think the 5 goes in off of the 11

Efren did it the easy way

I am putting up the answer already, have to hit the bed. But thanks for your suggestions ;)

Efren chose the easy route

What's more, you're jacked-up. That's a precision hit, even with a hanging ball in the pocket.

I'm gonna shoot for the moon here and propose this:

Nice one Jude ;)

This was the shot Efren did, against Bustamante. The match is available on accu-stats, 8-ball Invitational, Efren Reyes - Fransisco Bustamante. There are 1 great safetyrack in that match too. Think the safetybattle lasts for almost 20 minutes!!!

I'd start with the 7... playing to get whitey back between the 5 and the 11. Assuming that I did, I'd shoot the 5 down the rail to the lower LH corner, drawing whitey back a bit in order to get a ~40 degree cut on the 6 into the corner pocket where the 7 used to be, playing position to get down-table for a shot on the 4... trying to leave a ~40 degree cut into the upper LH corner... shooting with draw to play 2-rail shape for the 8 into the same corner pocket where I made the 7 and the 6.

The first shot on the 7 is the key. Get back to the rail in between the 5 and the 11 and you're pretty much home if you can make that 5 down the rail.

Wow, really??? That's what he did? hahahahahaha!

The only reason why I would go this way is that I figure I can run into the 6 pretty thick and make something good happen. Even if I don't get the 11-ball to drop, I'll still be at the table and I'll have the 6-ball nearby for defensive possibilities. The shot, has lots of potential for good things to happen. Any other way requires execution greater than what I can consistently muster.

You know...I know this is Efren Reyas we are talking about....And that is exactly my point...It is Efren Reyas we are talking about.

I can't see trying that shot...

I am sure that MANY could hit the 6 toward the 11, but I don't think anyone can honestly say they can "control" the 6 (and CB) in that situation.

From my perspective, I see that 6 ball easily caroming off the 11 and heading toward the 5 ball leaving a bank or VERY long cut shot...and also the possibility of being hooked from the now long 4 ball shot.

I think Jude called it right when he said "shoot the moon"... If it where just about any one but Efren doing it, I would think that is exactly what they are doing...

However...Sometimes...Ya gotta do what Ya gotta do... :)

You can actually INCLUDE Reyes on that list. He's shooting for the moon but he's giving himself a really good chance to be successful. I like the idea because you solve your problem while making a ball. If you don't solve your problem, you get another shot only this time, you've likely rearranged the layout favorably.

It worked for him, but if you don't make that 11 AND get a shot on the 6, well....just call yourself 'rackboy'.

On the contrary, so long as you run into the 6, you're going to have options. The 6 will definitely be nearby so that 11 is leaving the table before the inning is done.

From the diagram it doesnt seem too hard. 5 and 6 are both about a diamond and a quarter in, 7 is in the jaws. Are we saying the 5 and/or 6 are on the rail?

Just wanna know, printed this out, going to try it tonight, see out of 10, how many times i can get out like this.

The moment you try to form a bridge for the 6-ball, you're gonna see what I mean. You're going to need to elevate your cue a little and that's going to dissuade you from using any english. This means you're going to have to chop that 6-ball toward the 7. On top of that, it still doesn't solve the problem you have with the 5. You're taking this HUGE risk and you're not addressing the problem. The problem is the 11. You need to move it on this shot or the next but you're running out of time to do it.
