8 Point Koa and Curly (Gracio) Arrived!! New JP pictures.

UPDATE!! Scott was kind enough to make me some Matching Joint Protectors. He didnt have the cue and they are still dead nuts on!! See pictures below.

Ok I got a chance to shoot about 50 games with the the cue and along with looking phenomenal it also shoots phenomenal. The hit is hard to explain, it hits stiff but not stiff like a Harris or Sugar Tree. It moves the cue ball with ease. I dont know what he puts on his shafts but they are like glass. I will have more to report when I play more but I will have no issue transitioning to this cue, infact I think I already have. The Sugar is going to take the bench for a while..

Alright let me start off by telling you how and why I chose Scott for this cue. I remember seeing his early cues when he first Joined AZ in 2007. I have always followed his work and admired his fast learning in the cue building world. I think AZ is probably has THE most critical people about cues that you will find. I am VERY critical myself. Anyways, I went ahead and decided to ask Scott to build me Curly Koa and Curly Maple 8 Point cue and he agreed to.

The customer service was top notch! Every time I emailed him he would respond the same day! I was shocked to say the least. I have never dealt with a builder that was that prompt and I have nothing against builders who are not as prompt. I know they have families and other jobs so its not a big deal, it just floored me how quickly he got back with me every time. He sent me progress pictures the whole way through. He even sent me a pictures of the Koa before he had them!

He told me it would be 10-12 months before the cue would be ready and he was spot on with the time frame. We all know how hard the wait is with cues!

I got the cue today 10/30/10... Scott sent me a detailed description about the cue and his thoughts about it. He is very honest even if it is a negative point which I really appreciate. He told me the Koa hit a little softer than Maple but he had cored it with Purple Heart trying to give it a Stiffer hit. The finish is outstanding! The cue is dead nuts straight together and apart. I figured coming from the automotive world the finish would be great. He is truly a perfectionist..

The cue shoots great but I do not feel comfortable writing a review yet due to only shooting about 10 racks with it. I play with a Sugar Tree and had no issue picking this cue up. They play similiar, the Sugar is stiffer but the Gracio moves the cue ball just as easy. I actually like the taper of the Gracio a little better. I will write a detailed review when I get some hours with it.

I am not the kind of person to come on here and tote about the newest best thing and tell you it hits like a ton of bricks to up Scotts sales. But Scott is a stand up guy and his cues speak for themselves. It is almost unbelievable he has only been building cues for 4 years... If you get a chance to order or buy a Gracio, DO IT! You should do it before his prices go up, his cues should demand a higher price tag.

On to the pictures! (The Sugar Tree just couldnt stay out of the picture, she was getting jealous).
