82 Ball Run...... in 15 mins., 10 sec.

LOL...... I knew that I was rushing b/c of the time and I thought it was around a 18 min run But.... it was 15 mins a some seconds......

Hope you all enjoy it: http://vimeo.com/13748698

PS: no one shoot this fast.......

Nice run under pressure! you've set a precedence in speed. Not only do we have the high run to contend with, but now the speed record. "I gotta hurry! What time is it?!" LOL priceless! I'm going after your record and I'm gonna be one stroking everything...in my superman pajama pants.

Jesse, you are so funny...... I never thought of it but that is a pretty good record to hold here on AZ. At least we have a starting point of time for runs around 80-100 balls or so. I'll be proud to be the holder of that record.
You know it really isn't that fast for me, just a hair fast but not much.
I see the shot that I want to take and take it & move onto the next one.
I don't understand why it takes some players so long & to stand there for ever before they shoot a shot. But, if they get the job done, that is all that counts and if it works for them. I am happy for them.
OK, my good friend. I'll be waiting to see if you can break my record :>)

PS; I have my PJ's on right now & I need to go to "Sleepy Town"......I hear my bed calling my name........

First off nice shooting.

Can you share some info about your table setup? I noticed that it plays faster then the GCII I have at home.

It is a Thread I wrote about how I got my table and what type it is.
There are photos of my game room on page 2 of the comment pages.
That model table was used in the 1968 14.1 Championships in NY City.
There were two 14.1 tournaments that year in NY and the tables were used in both of them. It plays like a Gold Crown I.

82 is really good and that is some speed pool right there, wow. keep it up my friend

Learn ????

I'm going to download it now and perhaps when I talk to Bill later today we can watch it together and learn.

Congrats again.

Thanks Dennis.... but I do not think Bill & You can learn anything from my run that you two do not know already. You two are excellant players. I'm just glad to know that you two take the time to watch my videos.
Looking forward to the both of your comments.

Wow that is a nice story and a wonderful tribute to your mom.

From the camera angle i thought it may have been a gold crown. I see you have simonis tourney blue 860 on it. I will be doing mine in 760 soon. Most of the problem I have is humidity in my basement. I suspect you don't have that problem in Dallas.

Are they the original cushions from 1968??

Mike,

Poetry in motion!

That is one hell of a pace! I thought I shot fast, but after examining a lot of video, I noticed that I had a pretty steady pace. I have a few runs in the 50-60 ball range that took about 14-15 minutes. I have some in the 84-98 range that took about 28-30 minutes. I am trying to slow that pace down a bit, take my time and think things out more carefully.

Every time I watch you shoot, I amazed at your accuracy. You stand very high above the cue, but it works for you like a dream.

Thank You

I replaced the rubber with Artemis cushions.
That 760 SImonis is super fast. I am going back to 860 Green the next time I redo the table. I put the Tour. Blue on it this one time (I've always had green) and I like the Blue but not as much as the Green. Green goes better in my room and it's more "Old School" like me......

straightman: when i googled "Dimalto Riviera pool table" i get nothing. that must be a rare table.

i was using simonis on my tables for decades but then tried championship tournament cloth. i found that it was faster and more durable than my simonis. i've had 760 and 860 and i prefer the championship cloth. it's manufactured so well that it's hard to tell the front from the back. they had to put a sticker on it stating "back", if memory serves. but i'm not a fan of that blue cloth. i think it's a passing fad and perhaps a sales gimmick to get people to replace their cloth earlier than they'd have to. i'm not saying that this was your motivation however. video cameras don't seem to like it either. IMHO, you can't beat that beautiful dark green cloth.

Thanks

Theres some comments from my Buddy. Thanks Blackjack. There are times when I feel that I can not miss and I can shoot that fast with no problem at all. Believe it or not...... The reason that I missed that long shot on the one ball along with worring about the time & video recorder (tape time)..... Are you ready for this:
When I shoot pool I wear contacts and for the heck of it I went out and got a pair of weak Reading glasses at Walmart. I put them on with my contacts and started shooting balls in. I missed the one ball b/c it was so Blurry I could hardly see it.... LOL As long as I kept my shots within 6' they were going in.
I was just experimenting. If i ever get my eye situation down correctly. I believe that I can run tons of balls.

PS: Please do not try this at home and keep children away from this type of thinking..........LOL

Back in the 60's, Dimalto was competing with Brunswick. Their table
the Riviera was built & looks like a Gold Crown I. They lost the war and went out of business. The main factory was in Brooklyn, NY.
Most likely there are tables like mine in private homes on the East Coast.
I have never seen another one.
I do have a program from one of the two 14.1 Championships that Dimalto sponsored with a full page advertisement of the Riviera table. The program use to belong to Joe Balsis. He played in both of the tournaments.
I can down load some photos of the program.
As for the Blue Simonis. I have heard that it is easier to see the balls on it. So I gave it a try. And the Blue does help but the Standard Green(not the Dark Green) is not bad either.
As for the wear of the Tour. Blue & the Standard Green. They wear the same. I found that they both play the same & wear the same. Now that is just my opinion.

Isn't it a foul to shoot while the cue ball is still moving? Jeez man you run 80 something while you're sleep walking. And chalk your cue every now and then for Pete's sake.

Nice shooting sir.

Bill and I watched it and what can I say. Before we could figure out what was coming next you were already shooting. Your a heckuva shotmaker. You end up with tough shots a lot more than I think you should, but always get out of it.

Do you always think about an insurance ball when you are going into clusters? I remember you made one combination and just followed down to the end rail for no apparent reason and then had a tougher shot than you needed. Of course you made it, but....

Just my humble opinion. Most of what you do looks real nice and you are obviously in a good rhythm for this run.

The Answer is Yes.

Dennis:
Yes, I always think of Ins balls when I go into clusters. I feel kind of stupid with that question. The one shot that you are talking about. The combo with the cue ball traveling down to the bottom rail came at 13:10 or so. The cue ball was in front of another ball. Using high English was easier to hit the cue ball without fouling. There was more of a chance to foul that other ball in front of the cue ball with draw. I knew the cue would go forward. I attempted to have the 6-ball to the right of the combo to stop the cue ball but I was off a little & the cue ball just glanced the 6-ball and went down to the end rail. I then shot my way out of it.
All videos that I have watch from everyone here and even the Pros.
lose control of their cue ball during their runs but are good enough to get back in line after a few shots and continue. There is nothing wrong with that. If you remember Ray Martin's teaching video that you posted. He continually stated.
"When you get out of line. Re-think your pattern and start from there"
He also stated that there isn't a person alive that can tell you where the balls are going after a break. I 100% believe in those two statements and those two statements have made me a better player.

Mike: you shoot so fast it was hard for me to figure what you were up to sometimes but that's me not you. You play with so much confidence I am sure you know exactly what is happening.

I was surprised when you missed that last one. Damn reading glasses.
