What do you think?
End of 1st round....1/2 the rooms tables open up.
Finals at sunset.
All players in, start each round at the exact same time.

You don't think you need to reinvent the game. Just play six ball maybe race to four or five. Something funny I did a ladies tournament 6 ball one time. For the fun of it before it started I said any six balls on the break you get an instant $25. Holy Christ, they made it like eight times.

Also that money doesn't add up looks like they're keeping an awful lot of money.

After the announced payouts there's only $340 left for the remaining 28 players - don't see how they are keeping much at all since all those other folks apparently get something.

I think that "Full Field Payout" does not mean that everyone gets money back. I think it means that if the field is full, these are the top (or maybe only) payouts. I think the house is going to keep the remaining $340. Maybe $40 each for the next four and the house keeps $180.

Evidently it's not single elimination since 3-4 play off with $50 in the middle.

Anyone got tips on breaking this?

Very popular on the Chinese table, they like to play this or 6 ball in a ring game for small money - sometimes they rack the opposite way that is shown in the picture, and if you hit it right, the horizontal balls are wired to the corners. There are a few tricks, but I am not aware of them. My friend plays a lot, I will ask him.

I'd break from the side driving the one into either the two or the three depending on which side you break from. 9 is going to really go flying. Also that money doesn't add up looks like they're keeping an awful lot of money.
$10.60 cents per player overhead, & that includes table time.
If there's less players, everyone gets less.

What I found is this.
If you rack em tight, with the 9 ''on'' the spot.
The wing balls just bank back up table to the head string area, not easy to make a ball is what I've experienced.

Calling it short rack 9 ball seems so……redundant. 9 ball is already short rack rotation. Maybe call it half rack 9 ball even though you can’t have a true half rack. 🤔

Six ball has always been called ''short rack in pool.
In snooker, they have named and done a ''short rack'' 10 ball pro event.
Saying it this way, you don't have to Explain the rules.
Explaining new rules to players never seems to work.

Dave poker created TX Holdm.

It's the Only Poker Game non poker players will play, with the pros.
For my money in my prime, I wouldn't like playing Sigel six ball, or three ball or any other game, but this rack structure doesn't allow the breaker an advantage when tight, and 9 on the spot.

Thanks! Didn't understand that.

Anyone got tips on breaking this? ....
I would start from the side and hit the one ball full. note where the wing balls go. Move the cue ball to the other side and to the center in subsequent breaks, searching for something dead, but always play the one ball full. Unless they use a template, you will need to deal with the gaps.

In theory, if the rack is tight, you can direct the nine ball to different spots on the end rail by the hit on the one ball, hoping to make the nine in a head pocket. Also watch its path. Watch on your opponent's break, too.

They seem to open at 11AM. Any idea why they don't start earlier?
