There going to start running 8 ball ,9 ball tournaments after league season is over . I never played 9 ball just watched it on TV . I understand the rules but would like to know more on strategy , dose any one know of any good books or other informating I could use.

Roger...I would go to www.Accu-Stats.com and purchase a dvd or two of some 9-ball pro matches. You can watch them over and over, and will learn how the pros think and move, based on what they do in competition. I am also willing to come back up north, and work with you privately on this. :grin:

Scott Im thinking sometime over the summer getting together with you again unless a pool school comes to Michigan .

Watch out for them deer .

watching games if professionals are playing each other is very sure a good advice-- but the book from phil capelle *play your best 9-ball* is by far the best and most complete book i ever read about 9-ball. Highly recommended!

It covers just about every questions you might have about the game. If there is a question not answered in the book, get with me privately and I'll find the answer for you.
 
Capelle's Play your best 9-ball is definitely a great book.

Depending on your skill level. You should focus on a few things:

Large area position play + playing to the right side of the ball
Breaking from the side and controlling the cue ball
Safety play
Kicking
2 way shots

For strategy watch pro matches or watch matches of the better players in your area.
 
Additional to the Capelle Book i can highly recommend Blackjacks (aka Mr. Sapolis) *Lessons in 9-Ball* - great book for low-budget! This book together with Capelles book and you don t need anything more (except practice^^).
