First of all I would Really like to thank all of the Top Pro Mechanics for all the valuable info on this forum. Real King Cobra, your in a league of your own. Donny from SD, your work is amazing and thanks for tips and my personal table. To all the others, thanks alot for the info and problems you have came across.
One year ago I sought and waited for Donny from SDBilliards to come work my personal table which is a Gold Crown III. Before then, I recovered and installed some tables for family members and even installed my table in my apartments garage before I became a homeowner. Since I am more of a player than a table installer, I wanted a pro to come set my table up. Therefore I had Donny setup my table.
So I watched Donny work his magic on my table even though I had a little bit of prior table experience. I really wanted to learn his method of installing a table. Anyways, to make a long story short, I wanted to try and mimic his work and some of his methods into my installations. Now so far I have only done 5 sets of subrail extensions to date. Three of them were basic extensions with no modification to the pocket miters.
I shoot at Sharky's Billiards in Lancaster CA. That is my 2nd home away from home. The equipment is decent in the players room but the front tables need help. Sharky's is another California pool hall with 4in pockets and Artemis Pool #66 cushions in the players room. The front gold crowns have never been touched other than some hot glue and facing mods.
After playing on my table and then going up to the pool room. There was a huge difference on how the tables played. Mine was lightning fast and the pool room has always been slow even with fresh cloth and I always wondered why.
So I decided to rebuild two of the tables up in the front room and blueprint the pockets out. I built them to 4 1/2 in corners 141 degrees with a 14 degree backcut, 5 in side pockets with a 14 degree backcut.
I installed Diamond Black rubber for cushions. I really wanted to get Donny to fix some of the damaged wood on the rails but the owner didnt want to put alot of money into the tables. ok now on with the pics.
