Incredible work.....made even tougher because of only being 1/3 of the final product.

While "Dem Bones" and "Celtic Prince" are IMO, the TW masterpieces.

I couldnt make anything like them, and if I did make them, I could never sell them.....Good thing I am not a cue maker, I'd starve to death.

I love this trio Thomas. Bob shared the project with me and progress pics with as he was building his rendition. They all are just amazing together! Richard, Bob, and yourself really stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. NICE!

Agreed. I recall talking about this project with Bob as well. It's interesting to see all three versions side by side and to compare how each maker drew design and elements from the original. IMO, it is a great example of what inspiration should be. Those three cue makers do it perfectly.

As nice as this cue is, I like TW's Chihuly Tribute even more. Perhaps we'll see some pics of it.

Thanks for posting.

I never post photos of cues in progress, and I never post sold cues without permission. But I'll see what I can do.

I want to see the cue you play with. What do you take to the pool hall? I always like to see what cue makers build for themselves.

So Inspiration comes from designs?

Then why retaliate against another builder for that. Paul Drexlers 3 Cue set that sold for 12K each looked much like this Cue.
Should you suffer the same fate your patsies are?
Nick :)

Why instigate this debate Nick? You know TW will chew you up and spit you out with this short sided opinion of yours.

There is clearly an enormous difference between an inspired project and an original design. Especially when you are talking about Richard Black, Thomas Wayne, and Bob Manzino... three of the most creative and original cuemakers that ever turned a lathe.

Yes, of course inspiration comes from "designs". My inspiration for this cue came from TWO designs - Ralph Lauren's "Callia" series design and John Pfieffer's (sp?) design for Richard Black. Richard built his cue first in the series - quite a while before Bob and I designed and built ours.

Obviously the Lauren inspiration needed to be foremost - otherwise it would hardly be a theme-based / tribute-based work. Secondarily, for both Bob and myself, the Pfieffer design was SO stellar that we both had to really put in some work to avoid NOT emulating it. So yes, positive inspiration from the original "Callia" vase design, and negative inspiration from the RB-built rendition.

As for the PFD set you're referring to, I'm not familiar with it. But I can tell you that I know for a fact it had nothing to do with MY design or Bob's design. And Pfieffer's design is SO different from Bob's and mine that I seriously doubt Richard's cue resembles anything PFD put out.

That said, feel free to post some photos of the PFD cues you seem to think I copied. You'll be wrong, of course... but I'd love to see the cues.
