Here's a challenge from a character on AZ I,ve been "debating."

However, I'll make an offer to you or ANYONE who may think the way you do (although I can't imagine anybody thinking that way other than you)

I OWN 30 different cues. (Does that qualify me as a collector?)
What cues are they? Well, that's for ME to know and YOU to tell me. All I can say is they're ALL listed in the 3rd Edition of the Blue Book of Pool Cues somewhere between Page 97 where the listings start and Page 888 where the listings end.

Anybody that would like to EARN $10,000 can do that by PM'ing me to set up a time when you'd like to come to my house and take a cue test by hitting shots with each and every one. The cues will ALL BE lightly covered from the shaft collar down to the end of the butt and the ferrules will have masking tape over them to avoid any identification.

Hit up to 20 balls with each cue if desired. If YOU or anyone else can accurately pick out 3 (only three) out of the 30 will get $10,000. Oh, I almost forgot, if you DON'T get 3 right, your end of the deal is LOSE $1,000. Are you game, big boy? Bring ANYBODY you wish from AZ and you can split 10K or your loss will only be $500 each. Other than YOU, I don't think there's a person alive who would take that bet just to donate $500-$1,000 bucks.

Money talks...not big mouths.

this is an interesting proposition! if i had more money i would just pay the 1k to play with all the different cues :)

Too many cues hit alike for this to be feasible. I might as well just guess from here.
 
I have an idea. Just set all 30 cues on a table and take a photo of the entire group. See who can identify the most cues from the photo alone. I'm betting I can identify 10 of the 30.

I think the idea here is to identify cues without knowing what they are by hit alone. Everybody talks about how so and so's cues hit so good, let's see if they can really identify the hit or if they say they hit good because they know what they are. If cues have a distinct hit this should be EASY for some on AZ.

I can certainly appreciate the capitalist flair on display. It shows imagination in a tough economy. Good luck on your venture, I hope it proves to be profitable

You have to throw in some Walmart cues too. Give some room for people to really embarrass themselves. :thumbup:

Hondo, I must have missed this particular thread, but I have a feeling I know who is woofing at you. If you give me the same 10 to 1 odds on a ten or twenty dollar bet, I'll PM you my guess:)
 
LOL Hondo....I love the point (or as I read it).

When its all said and done we are still just talking pool cues.Some will hit different then others.Which is "better" will be in the minds eye of the shooter.

But the range of "difference in hit" can only be so wide when dealing with quality cues imo.

I'm not saying subtle differences can't be large differences and offer more confidance to the shooter,but the will still be suble more often then not.

<-------hopin like hell some one comes to claim the 10 large...would love to see how that will work out.
 
Guys, I have been ill lately.
It was a character on CCB named Artemus that I've been woofing with, not AZ.

I tell ya; I've been brain dead lately.
 
I ate 10 different foods today.

I will bet anyone on here that they can not identify 3 out of the 10 correctly.

I will send samples :cool: to all interested parties.

If you guess correctly, I will send you $500.00

If you guess incorrectly, you send me $100.00

I like this idea very much.

It is interesting to say the least.



My only suggestion to make it feasable is to provide at least the names of the makers of the 30 cues ( I assume there are probably at least 2 by the same maker?). Just to give em a fighting chance!


I understand if there is a paticular person talking big and being a pain in the @#$%. Keep the stakes high and don't give them an inch for their trouble, but..

I would be very curious to see what could come out of this. Once you shut this guy down, maybe you could make it more of a fun experiment for smaller stakes, and even provide the list. Needing to match 3 from 30 cues is not going to be done on chance or random guessing.

I think a blindfold may be a good option as well. I can already see the excuses about whatever you use to cover the cues with being blamed for throwing off the balance etc, etc. It is a "hit" test, not a "how many balls I can pocket" test.



I would just love to see this really go down. I am sure I would not be able to do it, but would like to try just for fun ( or for small stakes with a 10/1 edge)
