A couple of storys from the road with Johnny and Earl,

Mark...I'm only trying to help you. You can book your rooms one day at a time, if you want to, and still use Priceline. You don't have to book the whole tour at once. I have told you before, that I've booked a room on Priceline, while driving into the town I was headed to. It's up to you, but if you can't get a room in advance (even a few hours), then I wouldn't want you handling me either. It's not about the $$$!

Scott I guess the part that you can't grasp is that even with the discounts we are not in a position to put $4k up front. Now if you would like to help with the 4k please let me know. We understand the advantages of booking ahead. However on this trip would have actually lost $$ in Houston and in El Paso.

Be careful Scott.

T-wheels, it was good to finally meet you and hang out with you a bit while you guys were in Dallas. I'm going to be anxiously waiting the results of the election, then wait for you to actually go through with your plan. LOL.

Like everyone else already said, the exhibition was great and the pool school was good as well. Earl got a little bit riled up during the exhibition, but that was just Earl being....well, Earl. :D

During the class, Johnny was a very good teacher and took the time to answer any and all questions that anyone had. And Earl's stories are just priceless, not to mention that his stroke shots were incredible.

In case you haven't seen Earl do his wing shots, here's a short video that I shot during a break we had in the class with Earl. Earl was just bs'ing with all of us and he started to do his wing shots. He had already made about 4 by the time I started recording.

That is amazing isn't it? The first time I saw it I went to my table right away and gave it a try, I thought that maybe it just looked hard to do but I was wrong. I couldn't get lined up on the shot before it hit the top rail, and when I did get lined up fast enough I was way off with the shot. I don't even try it anymore I leave it to the experts. Thanks for the kind words and it was nice meeting you too.

Scott makes a very good point. A cell phone, laptop with in car charger, and GPS, is all you need and you should never be stuck without a room. With the endless connections points of wireless internet you could literally pull over to any hotel/mall/bookstores and gain access to the internet just by sitting in your car. In my opinion this is the only way I would be able to get by unless I have good connections at all my stopping points.

What if a hurricane came through and all the rooms were booked at the last min the day before you was to arrive?

That's just the point, Mark. ALL the rooms were not booked, and Priceline would find a room somewhere. They have a lot more resources, for finding rooms than you do...and it costs you nothing to use it!

WHat happened happened and even though it was not the ideal situation it makde for great memories for Johnny, Earl and myself as we have laughed about it since it happened. I will continue to do the best I can and I really don't want to have you talk to me on this point anymore Scott.

Fine with me Mark. Obviously you know more than I do. I've only been touring the U.S. for 200 days a year, for 15 years. That's a lot of experience booking hotel rooms...and all I was trying to do was help you with a problem that you have had in several stops already, on this 'tour'. Best of luck to you!

Maybe Mark and Johnny and Earl just said "man, this will be a great chance to get to hang out with Poolplaya9!" :rotflmao1:

In all seriousness though I had put the offer out several weeks in advance for a laid back place for them to stay as needed, and Mark was able to verify that I was cool people and that everything would be a good fit for the three of them as needed. In his defense it isn't like he made reckless decisions that might have left them sleeping in the car.

Don't worry about it. Oh and Kevin just so you know we have not had this problem several time with the tour. It happened in Austin and that was due to a hurricane so don't listen to everything Scott says on this subject.

Where you "three" going next? Disneyland.

No worries here. I was basically saying the same thing and setting the record straight that it wasn't like you dropped the ball anywhere. In Austin there was nothing you could do about a natural disaster such as a major hurricane that had a lot of people scrambling a bit. In San Antonio you knew (and still know) that you have a place where the three of you are welcome anytime.

Poolplaya9...Naturally, it is very nice for some posters to be able to put these guys up in a private home. Will that be the case everywhere they go? Definitely not. Knowing how to find a decent hotel room, in the price range and area you want, can be a hit-or-miss proposition...especially driving from hotel to hotel (or even calling a bunch of places). Websites like Priceline make that SO much easier. That's the only point I've ever tried to make, for this group, after reading about SEVERAL nights where they had a lot of trouble finding places to stay.

That's pretty funny Mark. You should probably read all your posts, so you know what you've already said.

Other than you going a bit overboard on Mark, this is a great thread. With respect, let it drop please, you made your point. Just sayin', from a totally unbiased objective viewpoint.

Poolplaya9 (Kevin - I assume - after using my Dick Tracy decoder ring  ), nice work. Great gesture, and apparently some very respectful hospitality and great accomo's. Well deserved Rep pards.

Thanks for taking the time to tell us some good stories Mark. Keep 'em coming. I hope I can be fortunate enuf to catch a show too!

Respectfully,

Matt
