What is one thing you wish you would have done different starting out ?

I'll start with a couple

I wish I would have not went crazy when I got my band saw and cut a lot of my wood for point and slabs and also turn some squares round that I did

I also wish I had half of the money I wasted on tooling and building supplies
I didn't need at the time or ever

If I had it to do over again

Don't feel bad. My first cue cost me about thirty thousand.... (when you figure machine costs etc.)I could have made it from solid gold...and it would have been one of a kind. LOL
ps I'm not exagerating either...not at all...I have no room in my shop to work because of all the machinery etc.

it's actually funny...

Cue making

I also wish I had started earlier. About 10 years ago I had more time and money to make cues.

I once had all the equipment and was given the knowledge to make great cues, was a lot younger and in better health. I did not take the time to use the knowledge that was freely given to me and used my partner Rich as a crutch.

Today I still have the knowledge and would love to give it a rip but lack the hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment (at todays costs), the space to put it or the health to carry through.

I can't change that. I still look at a cue and undress it in my mind much as one would do to a beautiful woman. You can't change the past but 15 minutes from now is the future, in 16 minutes that 15 will have been the past. Its what you do with the right nows that count the most.

I wish I had done Radon tests for all my shops when I first moved into them.

Funny, I have no regrets about spending the money on a great hobby.

Anything that I spend is considered a good investment for my peace of mind
when I am having fun.

Along with spending the money, came a considerable amount of knowledge. I could sell all of the equipment but I can keep the knowledge.

Same regret as Jer, I wish that I had stumbled across this many years ago.

And because of Chris's thread, I am going to get a Radon test kit.

And one other thing, I wish that I had have turned all my square to round some time ago. Better get at her.
