A Funny Moment At SBE

A guy from my area who I know has a big cue in his hands and he is explaining to a kindly looking silver-haired and moustached gentleman how the silver diamond inlays are set and how one must be careful for the way these are done, that mistakes can easily be covered up with filler and he was pointing out how to determine this.

I couldn't stand it any longer and I went over and grabbed his shoulder and told him; "James, do you know who you're giving this inlay tutorial to?"

He looked at me and said no.

I said that's Mr. Pete Tascarella and this look came over his face.

Pete, who very generously listened intently to James' presentation finished by saying, I'm pretty sure we didn't make any mistakes on this one. :grin-square::thumbup::grin-square:

we had a good laugh.

and yeah, this was a big, bad Tasc...

Pete sure can play too. He played one of the best matches I saw all weekend. He won a hill-hill match against Gary Nolan. I am very glad to have witnessed it.

I got a feeling that Pete Tascarella isn't used to being called kindly looking.
Pete strikes me as a little guy that the bullies learned to stay away from.

I've seen him almost in action...he told the TD to take care of a situation....
...or he would.

...the other guy was a heavy-weight.

I was in the Billiard Palace here and helped form a team at the last minute. I was sitting at the bar next to the owner (Mark Griffin would know her) when I asked if Mike Bender was in the room. She looked around but couldn't find him. She was sure he was there somewhere. Well, I'm more door than window. He was sitting on the other side of me.

I had a nice conversation with Mr. Bender and was impressed to say the least. He pointed at a cue and asked if I knew what it was. Funny thing is I had been wondering all night. "Maybe a Josswest," I said as more of a question that statement. Turns out it was a Gus. Mark Griffin would know the cue, too.

I believe that to be true so no doubt he could have handled the situation.

Can't believe I missed that match. Went to sweat it and they were running late then I got tied up and did not get back to root on Gary. Nothing against Pete but Gary plays with one of my cues so I have to cheer for him.
