A Good Morning To Be Alive For Me

The last month or so with my 70th birthday coming up in a few weeks I’ve been trying to figure out what hobby I can start to replace 60 years of pool. I know I’ll never play in tournaments again or can I take the pressure of gambling anymore either. Besides neither allows you to take a nap in the middle of the game when you get tired with no warning, like a balloon deflating.

So I’m thinking model planes, model cars, rockets, trains, finish writing the three books I started and on and on. Then this morning I go out on the patio with the humidity at 88% and the 4” pockets/rails on and run six racks + three balls=93 balls right from the get-go. Now I’m thinking it’s pretty hard to quit that. I think I’ll leave those other hobbies for when I get old. I feel about 50 right now.:D Johnnyt

NICE ONE!!! Its like golf isn't it, one good shot keeps you playing through ALL the bad ones. :D lmao. Pool JUST sucked you back into its death grip that it takes hold of people with.

Your addicted, you will never give it up, face it. :D lol.

Nice Run Johnnyt.

Johnny,

Talk about dejavu all over again. I've been going through the same ordeal for the last few months. I'm only 66! As for me, wanted to just quit playing. After 54 years no less. A friend talked me into going to Super Billiards. Damned if I didn't play very well. Actually made money. It's in our blood. Never going to go away.

If you do quit, let me know what you decided to do. I'll need the same advice ;)!

Johnny, you've never mentioned whether you play One Pocket, but to me it is the perfect game where one can spend his, or her golden years enjoying pocket billiards.
The game requires patience, which we have accrued over the years. It uses thought processes that are inhanced by our wisdom. And it's style and pace of play is intimately suited to our more laid back, been there, done that, attitude.
In addition, the chicks at the Senior Center really dig One Pocket players. I'm spending damn near half my pension check on Viagra, these days.

Johnny, NICE RUN!!! Never quit Sir, this game is a life style.

When I was in my early twenties I remember a few older guys just playing straight pool with themselves in the pool room I would go to. Every night, never gamble, never play anyone, never enter tourneys.................Back then I thought "what the hell are these guys doing, what a WASTE of time"!!

You know what? Twenty years later................I get it now. I play straight pool allot, by myself. Still play leagues, and tourneys...................but trying to out do your best against the table is relaxing and rewarding. Those old guys had it figured out, and I was to stupid to understand that.

Tourneys aren't everything............

U should try fishing,,,I can`t wait to hear ur stories:p:thumbup::sorry:

You are on denial Johnny!!! you know you're not giving pool up! You just can't!

Congratulations on the 6 pack. Instead of writing a book, ever consider opening an online blog? Perhaps cover stories of your younger days in pool. I certainly would love to hear more.

Jimmy Carter must be like a 120 years old or something close to that and he can still fly his ass over to Korea for intense diplomacy, I think you're selling yourself short.

Pick up that cue buddy and get back to work.

P.S. Model trains are the bomb.

Johnny-

Good shooting!

Tramp may be on to something with the 1P thing. The way I play, I get to nap in the chair playing all the games.

Keep hittin em good.

Take care
