A little mental trick that sometimes helps

In the diagram below, shooting the one-ball into the corner pocket with cue ball A is not too tough for most players. But move the cue ball back to the B position and on a tough 9-foot table, the shot looks a lot more difficult. If all you need to do with the shot is just cinch the ball with center English, it may help when shooting from the B position to IMAGINE that you are actually at the A position. In other words, mentally shorten the shot. It has worked for me, so maybe it will be a help to someone out there.

CueTable Help

Interesting concept. I wish you'd told me this last night tho. ;)

I'm going to give it a try, if there's room inside "there" to accommodate the short guest.

Great idea, also good for playing position off the rail or multiple rails. Tell yourself to hit the first rail at a specific spot at a specific speed and let the cue ball do the rest.

Will try this in the future I am sure it will help, thank you Mr. Porter.

I believe Bill means center CB...meaning the CB slides into the OB, with no spin.

Thanks, Scott, that's all I meant. Never occurred to me that anyone might misunderstand. The point is that the distant shot would surely require adjustment in where you need to strike the cue ball if you are trying to spin your rock to get position.
