Don't get me started. See that sounded like a challenge to me, I can't stop myself from taking up a challenge. However I have to be have and try to be professional as much as possible on here.
I will come up with something as controversal as I can get a waywith and when I get banned I am taking you down with me and using this thread as evidence.

Screw you, buddy - go down on your own, Mr. "I've got the goods on McCain."

I need to be professional as well, but I'll take you on any day of the week. Bring it!

I can remember signs in bars in NY that said, "No women at the bar, tables only". I can remember signs outside pool rooms in NY saying, "NO WOMEN ALLOWED". Now those were the good old days...hows that? Johnnyt

Lack of quality threads, life just takes precedence sometimes, lack of quality threads, gets boring sometimes, lack of quality threads, bashing of other posters, lack of quality threads............

Oh, and did I mention, lack of quality threads???

:D

Russ.....

Yes, lack of quality threads in the main forum is the biggest issue. Also, countless threads are started and remain in the main forum that don't belong. To this, I will add that the higher quality threads are not generating as much discussion as they have in the past.

Once upon a time, people used the main forum to share their aspiraitons and experiences as bar and league players, pool tournament attendees, pool tournament organizers, and students of the game far more frequently than they do today. Posters also were very keen on reminiscences about the game's history and its most colorful players, but such threads have declined in number.

Another problem is that good threads are much tougher to locate than ever before, due to the number of sticky threads that repeat on every page of the main forum and the vast number of subforums. How many are really willing to visit all the subforums in search of an interesting thread?

AZB is still utterly fantastic, but its thread quality is defintiely down.

My take is that there have been a large number of Bannings recently and there seem to be more fingers than ever pushing the 'move this thread' button.

There used used to be threads in the Main Forum (birthday, death of a loved one or pet, marriage, etc., etc.) that while they didn't really belong in the Main Forum, a huge part of the AZB 'family' participated in them. They don't last here anymore and are quickly moved by one of four Moderators or their girlfriends or wives or SOMEBODY.

The Main Forum is now being made strictly pool related, but the 'fun is gone'. It's not as enjoyable for me as it once was. I know, I know, i can go poke around in the NPR forum, but the political and religious threads overwhelm that forum and it is no fun either.

Did I mention that the fun of reading & posting here seems to have diminished ? At least, that's the way that I read it... imo

Doug
(playpool is gone, RSB is gone, ASP is gone and now AZB is becoming mundane) all imo of course....

Yep. That is exactly the problem. I can't possibly keep up with all the subforums - hate them in fact. And one thing I hate more than anything is to post something or follow a thread or post a reply in a thread and then it's just gone. Only to find out that it had been moved.

Having action discussions in the main forum really kept it hopping, especially when there was something going on. I won't even go to the action forum when there is something going on because don't have enough time or desire to check all the different forums.

I agree about the fantastic part, but I think the quality is still there, you just have to work harder to find it.

As much as we all want to see the forum and the game of pool be successful and grow, the quantity of activity and sticky threads has sort of narrowed the scope of the first page some.

I'm no web page internet guru, but if there was a preference available to include more threads on the first page, that would work for me.

The other thing that has changed somewhat, is that there seems to be an increase in members who seem to start threads more for the attention of multiple responses than actually being a real pool player with a genuine curiousity for an actual answer. (You know who you are!) :D
