A man has needs......and I need a high-end cue!!

Hiya guys,

Thought I'd throw this feeler out there, and see if anything came up.

I have a few cues right now...and a few on the way relatively soon, all from some great cuemakers....and mainly player's cues.

What I lack is a really nice HIGH-END cue. I used to have one or two, but somehow things got in the way, and they're gone. What I'd like to get ahold of is a real nice piece of work, on the higher end of the spectrum, and from a well known and well respected maker.

The catch is (and there's always a catch, isn't there???  :D ).....I'm looking to hook into something, but have some flex room available on funding. Call it layaway...call it financed....call it what you like. Bottom line, I'd love to get a nice high-end cue to finish out my collection, and have the latitude to pay for it in a manner more conducive to "family life." We're getting closer and closer to the arrival of our third little one, and a permanent change of location is possibly on the horizon as well. Between "normal" life stuff, and the obligations contained therein, I know I'd never be able to drop 5k (or more) on a cue in one shot....so I'd like to explore a possibility of doing it over time.

I figure 'tis better to ask now, rather than wait 'til next year, when life as I know it goes into a whirlwind.

If you've got a nice high-end cue, and are willing to work with me on the details, please drop me a line and let me know what ya got.

Thanks much for your time, ya'll.

Happy upcoming Sunday.

Why not just "pay yourself"...put a specified amount aside each payday, every month, whatever. As the stash builds, you can enjoy surfing cue maker websites while dreaming...

Did that....a few times. :) :)

What it basically boils down to is that I always manage to find a few lower to mid-range cues to eat up what I have available, as I tend to be an "immediate gratification" kind of guy. (Half of the guys here on AZB can testify to that).

I figure if I LOCK myself into a high-end cue, I get the best of both worlds. A great centerpiece for my small-ish cue collection, and an established goal to work towards. Both of which occur before life takes a severe turn in direction, making bigger purchases far out of reach (hence the flexibility with payment).

I do hear what you're saying, though....thanks.

There are some pretty cues out there so I do hope you find ONE that you really like and just go for it.

Good luck,
Myron

This is some friendly suggestions to get the cue you want. Instant gratification not withstanding. There are many ways to finance a cue.

1. One of the cue vendors on this site is willing to provide financing. I don't remember his name but I'm sure he will get in touch with you.

2. Get a home equity loan.

3. Sell some of the lower end cues you have to help pay for it.

4. If you are being relocated wait till you buy your next home and borrow an extra 5K. You will hardly notice the increase over a 30 year mortgage. But you will pay a lot of interest using this approach.

5. Save the substantial portion of the purchase and finance the rest.

6. Borrow against your 401-K or other savings you may have.

7. Tell everybody in your family what you want for Christmas and request that they all get together and give you as much as they can toward your new cue.

8. Get a second job and quit as soon as you reach your goal.

bill at cornerstone has many nice cues that u can finance. he'll even send the cue to u after the down payment provided u pass a credit check. not sure if he still does this, i'm pretty sure he does tho.

Thanks much to the gentlemen that have replied thusfar. PM's and e-mails have been responded to.

I hesitate to use the word "requirement," given the fact that I'm looking for (in essence) a HUGE favor......but I'll do it anyway! :) ;)

The only "requirements" I have are that the cue be wrapped (linen, leather, lizard), and that the cue have a piloted joint configuration. Altough I'm looking for an end-all, be-all cue for my collection, I DO intend on playing with it from time to time.....so player's specs are a HUGE bonus for me. The best luck I've had to date has been with piloted joint cues.

Thanks again, ya'll. Looking forward to (hopefully) putting something together.

To the top for the Sunday crew.

A couple REAL interesting possibilities out there so far.....and thanks much to those who've extended an offer for a high-end cue. Now that I know it's possible to square something away under my particular circumstances, I can't wait to pick one out!

PM me if you have something to fit my bill.

Thanks!!!

Order New

If you are looking for the centrepiece for your collection and want to be able to pay over a longer period of time and are slightly selective on the requirements for the cue I would suggest just ordering a new cue from a high end cuemaker and have it made to your own specification. That way you get the cue of your dreams that you designed and as it will take a while to be made you can pay in installments as most cuemakers are happy to take small installments as long as it is fully paid on completion.

I know it sounds like the obvious answer and i'm sure you have your reasons for not doing it straight away, but it does privide the answer to all your requirements.

Best of luck

Hi, and thanks for your inputs.

I am doing what you've mentioned....kinda.

I'm on the list for two cuemakers right now....both of which are known for their upper-end work. Down side being....I'm about 4 years away from each one.

I'm looking to get a cornerstone piece for my collection at present, and leaving the specifics (joint and wrap notwithstanding) open to whatever strikes me as a "Gotta have" cue.

Thanks again, and have a great Sunday.

Good Choice

Bill sure does have some great cues. The difficulty will be narrowing it down to only ONE cue.

I am pleased that you are getting sorted out. Out of interest who's waiting lists are you on?

I used the term "cornerstone" as a descriptor for the cue I want to get.....but you're right....Bill does have some really amazing cues!! I'm hoping to talk with him soon about my hunt, should he be inclined to explore some options.

As for my waiting lists....I'm on tap for Mr. Searing, Mr. Hercek, and Mr. Cantando (kinda sorta). I'm hoping to talk with Art sometime this week to firm something up.....and maybe take a road trip to go see him, if he's able.

As for my "immediate" fix....Something along the lines of a Hercek, Szamboti, Tascarella, Searing, Scruggs/Cochran, Black Boar, Showman, etc.....any of those would be fine by me!! :) :) That list isn't, of course, all-inclusive....but it's a start, right? ;)

Cue addicts

I have had good luck with the boys at cueaddicts. Sean is on here and a nice guy but I have never done any deals with him but Scott Murphy and the rest of the boys are about as straightforward and honest as any I have worked with. I have bought and sold probably 5 cues with them and think they were more than fair and tried to make a deal.

Lately I have worked with Troy at "ALL ABOUT THE GAMEROOM". He too, was easy to work with and honest. No issues at all, and I would recommend.

The last dealer I am working with is Troy at "On the Hill Cuesales." We are working on a deal and should finish it up this week, and I think he has been good to work with as well.

ALL THREE HAVE SOME OUTSTANDING HIGHER END CUES AND HAVE BETTER DEALS THAN THE OTHER ONES NOTED, IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER IF THEY HAVE FINACNING AND OTHER THINGS IF THE DEALS ARE NOT AS GOOD....JMO.

Good luck in your search.
