A new old room!

Looks like they could have done with two less 7 footers to me. I hate having to share ass space with the next table and wait to shoot.

Otherwise nice looking place.

You're being too picky, bud.
People here would kill for that bar.

As a matter of fact my family owed a pool hall for about 10 years and it was quite successful in a non-classical way (more of a restaurant / hangout) than what i would classify a pool hall. Nonetheless you don't have to be a tailor to know good suits.

I get that in today's economy you need multiple revenue streams to be successful. Good food. Bar, darts, coffee etc. Yes you can get more dollars per foot with bar boxes. Here comes the but...I don't think it's good for the game. Call me a purist. I grew up playing snooker on 12 footers and pool on 10's. Bar boxes are ONLY 8 ball machines. Anything else is simply a joke. It doesn't mean I would open a "hall" in that format but to dedicate a room to largely 7 footers IMHO is just wrong. It's kind of like serving poor food cheap. People will come and I can make a buck but I wouldn't want my name associated to it.

Now BB's paving the way for pool halls in Germany... well that's a stretch which you can point to zero data to substantiate. Germany is a hotbed of 14.1. I'm sure they all staring playing that in the bars.

Well lets put it this way, Oliver Ortmann wasn't old enough to play pool when i lived in Europe, and as far as pool goes, i was selling the first 2 piece cues, McDermott's way back then, and sold a shit load of them because no bar player had one...LOL

Trust me when i say you'll not find a better pool room in WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, or northern California when compared to this one. The pool room itself is in another room separate from the restaurant & lounge, where yes, karaoke is some of the nightly entertainment, and in the event there are any large pool tournaments being held in the pool room, 2 7fts can be placed in the lounge and a cover charge/entry fee can be enforced to watch the event without cutting off the customers that just want to play some pool. Mike did a first class job here people, and to make sure that overflowed into the pool room, we talked a lot about how the tables needed to be layed out, and we did it in such a way that the 9fts have their own seating area as to not be bothered while playing with the league players playing on the 7fts at the same time. I was also very concerned with how the pool lights were going to be mounted, so i offered Mike my help at no charge if he needed it and he accepted without giving it a thought, what a challenge to hang some of those lights i tell ya...LOL

Another great job by RKC!

Very nicely done. Congrats to the owners and nice work Glen.

And, all the tables are hourly rented. I think m
Mike is going to charge $6 per hour on the 7fts, and $9 per hour on the 9fts, but don't quote my on that, I'll know for sure on Friday when I'm back over there, but one thing i do know for sure, there is no per player charge.

Nice room. Now move out the 10 Barboxes and replace them with 6 9 footers and you have something.

Yeah, forget that this is a business and let's not cater to our customers. We'll show them what real pool is after we close the doors for good!!

That is a nice looking room! I personally hate playing on 7 footers and watching tournaments on 7 footers. Having said that, those 7 foot Diamonds are really nice tables, not even remotely close to "bar boxes". I can see how the general public would prefer playing on beautiful well maintained 7 foot tables like that. "Pool players" don't pay the bills, a varied clientele who is just looking for a good time and actually spends money on food and drinks does. I've seen many rooms fail due to lack of actual paying customers, there were "Pool players" everywhere you looked but no one paying the bills.
